Two Huskers (LaToya Howell & TK LaFleur) get to go home to the Windy City and play in front of family and friends this afternoon as Nebraska faces the second of three Big 10 schools on their schedule in the Northwestern Wildcats in a 2 PM tip-off. Both teams are 3-3 on the season. Both teams are averaging just over 70 points per game. Both teams are shooting nearly 43 percent from the field and both clubs own nearly identical percentages from beyond the three-point arc. The two NU’s also have similar numbers in field goal percentage defense, free throw percentage, assist-to-turnover ratio, team turnover margin and steals per game.
The Huskers need to get better point production and quality point guard play from LaToya Howell & Ashley Ford. The Wildcats will most likely double up on Kelsey Griffin when she gets the ball down under which will open it up for Gerhart, Aubry, Page and Diaz. Two of the four just mentioned need to come up with big numbers for the Huskers to come away with a victory.
Rebound! Rebound! Rebound!
Kei is starting to get in a groove and let's hope it lasts for a long time. Look for TK to get a lot of minutes she is rapidly becoming a go to player for the Huskers.
Hopefully the Huskers put on a good show as Coach Yori has mentioned this game will have some potential Husker recruits in attendance.

Nebraska could do what the Huskers did the last time these two teams met.
That game was in 1992 and the Wildcats had a plan to contain Karen Jennings through the doubleteam.
What Northwestern head coach Don Perelli didn't count on was a breakout game by Meghan Yedsena, who had a 20-point night and consistently made the Wildcat guards chase her around. The Husker backcourt won the day and the game, enroute to a successful season which ended in the NCAA tournament.
Should Huskers win at Evanston today, I'll feel a darn sight better about that than I did as a college student in 1992.
Chipper sez: Nebraska has all the advantages. Northwestern is an athletic team, but raw fundamentally. Think Texas A&M a couple of years ago. If the Huskers execute well, they'll win this game in a walk. If transition really gets going and we can run on them, this game will get ugly.
Nebraska 77, Northwestern 57

Good first half...Nebraska leads 30-22. The offense seems a little off. Six airballs in the first half, but Kelsey Griffin leading the team in floorburns.
The Huskers opened up 11-0 to start the game but the Wildcats did fight back.
Kelsey Griffin and Jessica Gerhart lead the team with 8 points each, and the team has outrebounded the Wildcats 30-16.
Second half, lets execute and finish this team off!!!!!

Now this is what you do to a team in the backfield class.
Nebraska up 71-47!!!
How much worse can Northwestern womens basketball get?
Sarah White getting in the act...74-47!!!!!
80-50 yawner. But I thought Nebraska had a recent reputation of being bad on the road? Not in this game. It has to feel good to really dominate an opponent that you SHOULD dominate on their court.
I know that the road is going to get a lot tougher, but this is a pretty good looking team that Nebraska has this year, in spite of injury.

"this is a pretty good looking team.
I wouldn't go that far. But this is a very good win to have.
Kiera Hardy's on the beam, Kelsey Griffin is an inside player like no other. Every got into the game today. Even Gerhart and Aubry got a piece of the pie.
This is a solid win, now we get Michigan. We keep learning and growing through the rest of the Jabroni schedule.
Then we lock in on January, February and March.
Great win my lasses, but the goal is The Show....and we aren't waiting for next season.

Kelsey Griffin 22 points and 7 boards in 23 minutes with the flu - is this kid something special or what -
Kiera Hardy - only 11 points but 8 assist -
This team is starting to match the intensity of Coach Yori's teams at Crieghton -

Great win Huskers! Now let's take care of Michigan next Saturday.
Nebraska Coach Connie Yori said the Huskers put together their most complete game of the season against the Wildcats.
"We played really well," Yori said. "Our effort was tremendous for 40 minutes. We got on the floor, we got on the glass and our defensive effort was outstanding. I thought our players did a great job of battling for every possession all day long."

Coach Yori also mentioned the improved play of Danielle Page, Jess Gerhart and Elena Diaz. She said she's challenged all of them to step up their games and they've done that. They all played some solid minutes today. Danielle seems to be finding her nitch and looks like she will continue to play a strong role coming off the bench. Her vertical jump has improved and with those arms, she can play defense on taller players.
Kiera Hardy has really matured as a basketball player. Last year she was a scorer who played some defense once in awhile, considered passing the ball . . . maybe -- This year she's got a complete game. With her improved court vision, all around play, and some other players capable of shooting the rock, it's going to be pretty risky for anyone to run a box and one on us this year.
