View Full Version : A Stunning Situation
Hard as this is to believe, the men's Big 12 tournament will have exactly TWO nationally broadcast games.
Our women's tournament will have SEVEN nationally broadcast games.
Say what you will, but women's basketball is really starting to come into its own.

Nice catch, YCN. Thank goodness for Fox Sports!
Around here, Fox Sports Network is my hero.
Without them, I might have seen a total of about 3-4 Sooner basketball games this year.
Regardless of what people think about Rupert Murdoch, I'm not about to diss the man.

Dittos about Fox Sports. Bill Land even sounded somewhat enthusiastic during most of the games he called this year.
Where was ESPN? (Or even ESPN2?) CBS? I'd like to see CBS pick up the WBB games like they did the MBB games. (Dream on, I know.)

I like Bill Land. He always seems genuinely enthusiastic about the games he works. I think he just loves his job.
I'm glad ESPN ponied up a bunch of money and will offer coverage of all of next year's tournament games (for a price), but a few years ago I always wondered why Fox and the NCAA didn't get together on a package for comprehensive coverage of the women's tournament. For years Fox has provided coverage of wcbb from coast to coast throughout the season. They have plenty of announcers who have routinely covered the sport and have some familiarity with the teams. They suffer from a vacuum of programming during the tournament. At the time, ESPN covered a mere trickle of early round games. It seemed like a situation that would have been ideal for both parties, and yet I have no recall of it ever being mentioned.
