There was a brief article in the side bar of the Des Moines Register about Gillian Goring and the McDonald's All-American game. Thought some of us might be interested in the info...
"Waterloo West's Gillian Goring was selected Wednesday to play in the McDonald's all-American basketball game April 4 in New York City.
Goring will be joined by Iowa recruits Johanna Solverson of Lake Zurich, Ill., and Lindsay Richards of Barrington, Ill., in the game, which will be played at Madison Square Garden and televised by ESPN. This is the first time McDonald's has sponsored a girls' game.
A 6-foot 7-inch senior center, Goring will play for West in the state tournament on Monday. She has averaged 17.1 points, 12.7 rebounds and 7.2 blocked shots since joining the team in mid-January.
Goring also has been named one of 10 finalists for the prep Naismith award."
ISU fans might appreciate this for Goring and others might simply for the fact that the game will be on television.
