In front of 9,649 fans, out on a cold night for senior night, KSU led for the whole game. MU closed to as close as 6 twice in the second half. Eventually the Wildcats just pulled away. This game was a story of three point shots. Laurie Koehn was 6-13 from three-land and 10-20 from the floor for the game. She led all scorers with 27. Kristin Rethman celebrated her last regular season home game by hitting 5 threes and scoring 15. Kendra Wecker scored 12 and had 15 rebounds. Nicole Ohlde scored 10 and had several blocks. I haven't seen an official box score yet.

Wannette Smith led MU with 10 points and 7 rebounds. Kerensa Barr, Natalie Bright and Evan Unrau all scored 9 for the Tigers. It was Unrau's first game back since her injury and yes she did play quite a bit.

The 9,649 fans add to the prior 90,368 to give K-State a record attendence of 100,017 for the season. That's more than double the previous record.

BTW that gives Laurie Koehn 509 points for the year. A freshman record. Nicole Ohlde still needs nine points to reach a career total of 1000.

wow, that's incredible to reach that in 2 years on the court, as I'm sure she'll manage 9 points in the Big XII tourney.

great win, young ones.........a win to bring all those KSU fans on down to Kansas City.

A couple of games ago, Angie Welle became the first person in the Big XII's short history with 2000 career points and 1000 career rebounds. I wonder who the second will be... http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/wink.gif

I think they said last night during the OU game that LaNeishea had something like 1,958 points going into the game. I think Stacy is right around there too.

from soonersports.com:
"Stacy Dales is the ONLY player in Oklahoma women's basketball history to have scored 1,600 points, grabbed 600 or more rebounds and dished out more than 700 assists."
I wonder how that falls into the Big 12 conference history?

And, "Senior LaNeishea Caufield (Ada, Okla.) currently ranks No. 18 among the NCAA all-time individual leaders in career steals. She has pocketed a school record 378 in nearly four seasons."

Gosh, what a great bunch of Srs that are about to finish their careers...

A great group of seniors going out with a great group of young talent behind them. It's kind of fun to think about who might be the all big 12 players next year. It will be wide open. This year we had a lot of imcumbents who almost had to mess up not to be all big-12.

To keep on the KSU thread, I think Mahoney belongs on the underated player list. She did a lot of good things to help her team when KSU played in Austin including nailing shots when Texas managed to cover the big scorers. Could she become like ISU's Gahan?

Thanks for recognizing Megan Mahoney carolann. She is a quiet member of the team but usually a first rate defender as well as good with assists and a general solid floor game. She is a very good shooter but doesn't shoot much on this team. Lately, including last night, she actually is used for relief at the point position. Sort of creates match up problems for other teams under the right circumstances. We really like her. To be mentioned with reference to Tracy Gahan is an honor indeed.

mred, ditto for mentioning Nicole in relation to Angie Welle. As you know ISU is at least "first among equals" in my heart in regards to Big XII teams other than KSU.

I hope to see one of our Big 12 teams in the NC game this year and I think the one most likely is OU. I'm not sure how many KSU fans will make it to KC for the b-12. My wife and I will be there and our tickets are on order for the NCAA's if we get them in Manhattan. (fingers crossed).

Hey I just realized everyone on this thread has been labled a "homer". http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif I think I'm real happy with the company.

Without getting mushy I gotta agree with Jennifer. What a great group of players we have in this conference. As a native born Nebraskan I'm going to change the old saw about the two most popular sports being football and spring football. For me its WBB and summer WBB. I don't want to miss a thing this year, and hopefully we are a good ways from done, but already I can't wait for next year.
