Cynthia Cooper was one of the announcers for the San Antonio-Houston game tonight. They talked about her being the new head coach for Prairie View A&M (near Houston).

How did they pick who could be in that list? I found it a bit interesting that Kendra Wecker made the list. Not that I doubt her ability, but an injured player out for the season?

Of, and I DID vote for Kendra :)

Before the season started the WNBA guessed who the starters would be on each of the teams and put them on the ballot. You will note there are five from each team and that's how they got-em. Not very accurate but they hold the balloting so early in the season they have to chose VERY early. They use printed ballots they give out at games etc. They need time at the printers and then for distribution. The process winds up favoring teams who have the most home games before the deadline. And you thought hanging chads were a problem. Come to think of it maybe some guy named Chad thought this process up. If so we could hang him.

Don't forget that you can vote multiple times, you just have to wait 24 hours before voting again.

You can also do write-ins, or at least one per ballot, not that it will do any good. I have voted maybe six times, so I KNOW that there are at least six votes for Brooke Wyckoff! (11-14 on threes ~~ .786)

Nicole Ohlde sure has all of my votes though she is having a hard time of it lately and is not likely to win.

About the only race left is for guards in the East. Becky Hammon (NY) 31,058; Alana Beard (Was) 30,079; Lindsay Whalen (CT) 29,379; Deanna Nolan (Det) 28,283; Dawn Staley (Cha) 26,032; Nykesha Sales (CT) 24,439 are all reasonably close.

Oh, and I see Chamique Holdsclaw has a shot as well. Sheryl Swoopes (Hou) 58,250; Lauren Jackson (Sea) 42,921; Chamique Holdsclaw (LA) 41,429 She probably deserves to win. Most of the positions are no contest, a gap of 20,000 or so.

Forwards: Tamika Catchings (Ind) 93,842; Swin Cash (Det) 69,494; Cheryl Ford (Det) 51,678; Taj McWilliams-Franklin (CT) 42,190; Katie Douglas (CT) 41,268; Tangela Smith (Cha) 39,289; Tammy Sutton-Brown (Cha) 31,813; Natalie Williams (Ind) 29,961; DeLisha Milton-Jones (Was) 24,322; Elena Baranova (NY) 21,565; Murriel Page (Was) 18,629; Crystal Robinson (NY) 16,988.

Guards: Dawn Staley (Cha) 62,191; Becky Hammon (NY) 57,195; Alana Beard (Was) 53,381; Lindsay Whalen (CT) 52,176; Deanna Nolan (Det) 45,583; Nykesha Sales (CT) 39,161; Allison Feaster (Cha) 32,673; Kelly Miller (Ind) 32,201; Tan White (Ind) 31,454; Vickie Johnson (NY) 26,171; Coco Miller (Was) 25,646; Elaine Powell (Det) 24,369.

Most interesting fact: Though leading the WNBA with a record of 12-2, the Connecticut Sun placed no one in the starting lineup. Lindsay Whalen came closest, trailing Hammon by a bit more than 5,000 votes though finishing fourth. The Sun have stressed the concept of TEAM and probably aren't too concerned about the matter.

Swin Cash's selection has to be the most ridiculous.
