Meg Brown played for Texas, finishing last year. Her mother came to the post game celebration today to confirm what I had heard rumored - Meg is very sick. She was operated on for Lymphoma and is undergoing chemotherapy. She is in Austin but will return home to Arlington soon to continue treatment. Meg's mother read a letter dicated by Meg asking for prayers and positive thoughts. Meg's letter was, of course, very positive.

Meg Brown's letter was to the Longhorn fans who she thinks of as an extended family but I'm sure some of you will also take time to think of Meg, one of last year's seniors.

They talked about Meg on the TV broadcast today also. Would you keep us posted on how she is doing?

Thanks for posting, Carolann. There were many tears in Fast Break. Meg's energy and positive attitude made her a favorite of the fans.

I went to the Orange Room after the game for the first time, excited to be there. But when Meg's mom read that letter, I went from being very excited to extremely sad. What a wonderful attitude Meg had as a player for Texas. I am certain that attitude will help her beat this and regain her health. I send the most positive thoughts and prayers her way. Thanks Carolann for posting this.

Remember when Tarin, Edwina, and Meg all played together and the radio broadcaster would talk about plays that went Brown to Brown to Brown? We loved it at my house because we have Browns in the family. Meg has always been one of our favorites because of her upbeat, team oriented attitude. I know she'll overcome this hurdle just as she has others in her dedicated life.

Our prayers are with you Meg. You are really a special young woman. Our hearts go out to you and all of the Longhorn Women family. We hope all the strength you gained from your years on the team at UT will help you fight this battle.

I followed Meg's career from Arlington High School to UT. I saw her play some real "sweet games" for the Colts. She's a sweet, lovable prson. I'm thinking of you in my prayers, Meg. Keep a positive attitude and remember: "Good begets good."

Last night during Coach Sharp's radio show, she and Ryan talked about Meg and what a special person she is. The Lady Raiders sent her a big box of chocolates (they said she couldn't have flowers..but loves chocolate) and a note of encouragement and I'm sure they same is true for the other Big 12 teams. I'm struck by the number of times I hear Coach Sharp talk about talks she's had with other coaches or notes she has received or sent and I know the same holds true for the other coaches.

Our players and coaches fight like heck on the court, but hug each other and care deeply about each other off the court. Stories like this and Amanda Cleveland remind us all of what's really important.
