I updated my spreadsheet with games completed as of today. Also, I accidently had the 2 and 3 seeds switched in the bracket, which I have now fixed. I moved the bracket to its own page on the spreadsheet. I also added times and dates for the tournament.

Only if its a last second half court heave!! http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif

The only time I've seen Sherri get so excited that she didn't immediately shake hands was either when we beat Purdue at Purdue, or - or shoot, now I can't remember. Anyway, she turned around and hugged Jan Ross and the other coaches before shaking hands.

Since that KMR topic is getting so long, I'll try to quietly post my thoughts over here.

It's very obvious that KMR is much more exuberant than most coaches. So when I see her pumping her fists and jumping up and down on the sideline while BU was building nearly a double digit lead over OU in Waco - then it makes what she did at the OSU game fit in with how she reacts to things. She is also very active when confronting refs. All this goes into the type of persona she has and you have to consider all her actions. Not just take what she did at OSU and try and compare it to Marsha, or Sherri, or anyone else. What KMR did at the OSU games fits with how she has reacted to every game.

If you want to bring it to a personal opinion level - well, sure I don't think it is necessary and I wouldn't personally do it. But good grief, that's because I'm a much more reserved person than she is.

I'm sure we've all met people that are just so much more animated than others. And I think it's great that such people exist. Marsha Sharp is classy in all that she does. But (and don't take this wrong Tech people) if all coaches always acted just as she did, well, that'd be boring. Everyone would look and act the same.

I guess we don't know if she shook hands or not. You always should shake hands though, always. That is getting into the territory of un-classy if you don't do that.

Well said, schooner. That's sorta what I was trying to get at on my post on the other thread, but you said it much better.
It's one thing to not think how she acted was appropriate (I didn't see the game so I can't comment) but what gets me is the thoughts that she didn't act like Coach Sharp, Coach Conradt, or Coach Barry would have, so it's somehow not approproiate. She's a different coach, has a different personality that seems to be much more animated, so of course she's going to act differently. I don't think that's a bad thing.

That is the understatement of the year. She attempts to influence the calls more than any coach I've seen. That's not necessarily a criticism - hey, if it helps your team...

She literally got a call changed when they played us in Austin. A ball was tipped out of bounds on the baseline and the ref on the baseline called it out on BU. I guess the ref closest to KMR must have given some sort of indication that he would have called it the other way, so KMR personally (in her very animated way) waved the refs together to conference and the call was changed. She's very aware of how visual reactions to a situation can affect the call.

I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt on the OSU post-game celebration.

BTW, if Sherri gave a KMR jig, she'd probably break her neck in those 7-inch heels! http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif

I've actually seen Bill Fennelly do a jig, but it was after the postgame. When they beat UCONN a few years back, he game out of the locker room for his interviews and danced all the way across the floor! http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif Only after he calmly shook Geno's hand, though!

mred, what exactly did you change in your sheet? I've already modified your old one a lot and don't want to do that all over again. Plus I can't access your new sheet.

mred, I can't download your spreadsheet!

Not as a click-and-load with the Excel plugin (which I don't like), or by trying to "Save As".

All I get it a message saying the file is unavailable.

Can you email the spreadsheet to me?

schooner, nice post regarding KMR.

I'm not close enough to Baylor's program to notice how their head coach responds on a regular basis, so I wasn't going to touch the "NCM" thread with iron tongs.

I don't have any idea either whether or not she shook hands with Dick Halterman, but I would tend to give a young coach a little bit of the benefit of the doubt when your program has just reached an apex never before reached, with a team that has played like champions this season.

If Coach Mulkey-Robertson did breach protocol, then I believe she will correct that shortcoming in short order. She doesn't look like a loser or intentionally disrespectful person to me.

Well I might as well help hijack this thread. As regards the KMR celebration let me give you my take. I watched this game on TV. I was pulling for OSU because of the situation with Coach Halterman but I have no ill will to Baylor or Coach Mulkey-Robertson. I was very happy for him when his team fought back to go ahead with 4 seconds left. I was dissapointed for him when it was lost at the buzzer. See, since I identified with Coach Halterman I saw it as a crushing loss, NOT a glorious victory. That's why for me, at the time, the picture of Coach Mulkey-Robertson celebrating in such an exuburant fashion seemed, well sort of unseemly. I understand no harm was intended and no big deal which is why I haven't commented before. The display at that time and with Coach Halterman's situation on his floor for his last home game just did not set real well with me. In some ways it still doesn't, and the arguments of her defenders do not help, because the arguments don't show any understanding of Coach Halterman's situation or the circumstances of the game. They are focused on whether its OK for a coach to be emotional. Of course it is. I was just a little disapointed in her conduct in that game's context. Does it mean she is a lowlife that does not deserve respect? Of course not.

I do wish it had been discussed along those lines rather than as a personal attack. The title on the other thread started the disscussion on a down hill track from the get go. I would like to think that a thoughtless act does not make a person classless or BAD because if it does we are all in trouble. Certainly that applies to many of the posts on that thread. Lighten up! We all do things that seen in another context may be offensive to someone else. Lets all resolve to at least not do it on purpose.

lol, Bevo........I saw the game, and I don't think she shook hands. The camera was focused on KMR, so it's hard to say for sure what the players did. I did see Halterman walking off; don't know where he went. Don't they have a press conference after every game? Don't you bet she feels a little embarrassed?, the game was shown on Fox, I don't know how far-reaching the telecast was. I haven't seen mention of it on the ESPN boards.

And KMR is a very active coach......every game I've seen Baylor in, she is constantly doing the "travelling" motion after a play.

KSUron - Your post summed up exactly how I feel. Wasn't thrilled to see KMR celebrate that way under those particular circumstances, but highly respect her and her program. Thats all.

ditto KSURon's comments. Swok, there was a clip of KMR on one of the cable sports news broadcasts...I can't rememeber for sure because it was late and I was tired, but I think that it was ESPN SportsCenter.

Thanks, KSUron. I was at the game Sat. and I couldn't believe some of the 3-pointers Koehn was hitting...some of them looked like they were from beyond NBA range.

To answer a: I just corrected the bracket mistake (I had 6/11 playing 3 and 7/10 playing 4), prettied the bracket up, and put in the correct game results (changing them from blue to black)

To answer b: I unsuccessfully tried installing a new ethernet card in my server. As a result, it was down for a few hours this evening.

You can download an excel viewer http://download.microsoft.com/download/excel2000/Xlviewer/2000/WIN98/EN-US/xlViewer.exehere</a>. I don't think Works can handle excel spreadsheets, but this should work.

Re: KMR thread
I'm jumpin' on with KSUron and Texan. What I see, is that when someone else's coach or player is involved, people tend to sum up the whole person based on one thoughtless act or ill-phrased comment. We hold that one act in our mind and never let go. We treat our own coach or player more like beloved friends or family members. We allow for extenuating circumstances. We place the act or character/personality trait within the context of a whole person - a person who we think is on balance a good person.
On the original thread, some people criticized the act. Some people judged the person.
