Has anyone heard if Kammi is looking to leave Kansas State to pursue a head coaching job?

Kammi says she is not, according to a report from Voeple.

And my hair dresser, a font of UTexas wbball knowledge, agrees that Kammie has expressed a long term commitment to Kansas State. Should she choose to make a move, however, she is in a good place in her career to do so. Younger, hungrier and with a taste of success, she has the potential to make the move, successfully.

I hope the Camera is right for once, but they seem to be out of the loop--at least their coverage has been out of the loop.

OK, what the heck is her deal? I was arguing for her to be hired at OSU when Julie Goodenough was being courted. It seems like she ought to be an HC somewhere by now, is she not as good as I think she is or just really hooked on KSU?

Or waiting for Jody to Retire?

Waiting for Jody to retire? I doubt it. Etheridge has said that she would retire before Jody. If so, I'm one Texas fan who would like to see what Kammi does with her own program before hiring her as head coach at Texas. I seriously wonder why Kammi hasn't taken a head coaching position yet.

Oh, yes, let's not forget Nell Fortner at Auburn. Fortner is already showing her recruiting ability. If she is competitive in the tough SEC, she could move back up to front runner status among Texas fans. I think fan interest in Fortner has a coach at Texas waned a bit following Fortner's lackluster results in the WNBA and her broadcasting days.

I believe the situation is such that leaving would interfere with her personal life.

I've always thought Texas Associate Coach Karen Aston would be heir-apparent to the Jody throne....

I think there was some mutual interest between OSU and Etheridge, but I think OSU decided Budke, who had been a D-I head coach, was a little bit of a safer pick. After the Goodenough hire, I'm sure they wanted a sure B instead of a possible A that could be another D.
I hope Budke ends up being an A and Etheridge proves herself down the road as an A as well, but right now I know I'd rather have the safer pick too.

Although I have no inside info I feel pretty sure that her lack of D-1 head coaching experience played into the CU decision as well.

Since I've been paying so much attention to coaches while CU had the opening, it seems to me that it would be a rare thing in todays environment to go directly from being an assistant (or a high school coach :) )to being the head coach at a major D1 school UNLESS its the school you have spent many years at (like KSU in Ethridge's case).

The coaches getting the jobs at the 'name' schools all seem to have gone from being an assistant at a 'name' school to being a head coach at a 'lesser known' school to establish their reputation first.

You're on the right track. It's pretty common knowledge at KSU that Deb and Kammie are a "team". ;)

And what? Like these "teams" you speak of are some big deal or something. Hell, only a hillbilly would think that such a comment is cute. Get over it.

I don't think that they meant anything negative by their comment.

I would have a real difficult time believing this one, but I could be wrong.

Deb runs the ship, and Kammie is the first officer. Of course they are a team. Why would they be something different?

I know this is womens basketball, but c'mon folks. ;)
