For $10, yes just a mere $10, one can purchase general admission tickets to see the following potential games March 6th in Kansas City:

Oklahoma versus Oklahoma State (yet another bedlam showdown as Dick Halterman coaches one of his last games)

Kansas State versus Texas - another double overtime?

Colorado versus Texas Tech - will the Red Raiders avenge their home loss to the Buffs?

Baylor versus Iowa State - who will play this Wednesday and then possibly meet up again just a week later.

How much would you be willing to pay to see these FOUR games in person? I think we are getting quite a bargain this year. Wonder if they'll increases prices in Dallas next year.

And by the way, it looks like Texas Tech will get a chance to avenge its loss to Missouri in the first round of the tourney.

I will be attending the University of Texas at Dallas next year so that is one of the perks for going to Dallas. I'm kinda excited. Where's it going to be held at? I hope the AA! That's nice!

Men at the AAC and the women right down the road at still a great facility in Reunion.

BUt the AAC is so much more posh...very very nice facility. Plus, I have less trouble leaving it than I do Reunion http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif.
I always seem to end up where I don't need to be when leaving anything at Reunion.

I personally hate everything abut the AAC, from the class structure going on, to the lack of atmosphere, to the ridiculous prices for any event held there, to the bad seats waaaay in the upper decks.

At Reunion there isn't a bad seat in the house, parking is right there, it seats over 18,000 and it is a much better facility than Municipal is in KC, despite Muni's tradition. Not to mention Reunion has a much better atmosphere.

The AAC is nice to look around and dress up, sippin on a martini and watching ER on a flat-screen TV from a luxury box. Or for most corporate people that have Mavs/Stars tickets, not show up at all.

The AAC is a great facility if you're interested in a sideshow and want to be pampered by all of the nice amenities. The food selection is definitely greatness. But if you're "Joe fan" who just wants to watch some serious basketball, then Reunion is your place.

Points taken Big12bear...

I suppose I have a biased opinion of the AAC--my company's seats are awesome, but on the "platinum" hob-nobbing level...I do feel a bit out of place there, but the parking garage right across the street was nice.
The other seats I've sat in were 8th row in the corner on the defensive end of a Stars game and were great--but $90 seats (luckily a friend had an extra http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif).
You know my complaints about Dallas when I moved here...I guess your description of the AAC are related to what i don't like about big D.
But I do like many stalls in the bathrooms! That's important ya know. Reunion can't claim that at all. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/wink.gif

Touche'. Reunion can't claim that, nor can any other arena in the world. The AAC has more restrooms than any other arena ever built. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/wink.gif

The parking garage is nice....For those lucky enough to have those rather expensive parking passes! http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif But if it's off the 'ol corporate dollar, then by all means, take advantage of it. I have once or twice, myself.

An Ericsson buddy invited me to a Stars game almost 2 weeks ago and we had 120.00 seats. I thought I would be somewhere near the glass. Not even close! I was barely in the lower level. Try 300.00 for glass seats! That's for every single game, and playoffs are more. The atmosphere was very stale, despite a win.

I got invited to 4th row seats to a Mavs-Celtics game last Thursday. I was in awe down there, but no atmosphere til the 4th, when the Mavs made a comeback and you couldn't help but get excited.

Actually this is just kind of my rant on how the professional sports world has gone. Joe Fan is left out, corporate america is in. Luxury boxes are in. Unaffordable tickets are in. Salaries have skyrocketed. It's enough to make me not want to go to a pro sporting event...But you know that won't happen http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/wink.gif

I lived in Dallas for several years. Talk about some major college sports withdrawal. Its all about the Cowboys and Stars and the fair-weather fans and going to the games to be seen. Now that the Mavs have their trendy rich-boy owner I'm sure they are the 'hot ticket' in town.

'The Ticket' was some pretty funny sports radio, though. It was more about the comedy than the sports.

Nice rant, bear! http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/wink.gif

Our (my employer's) platinum seats are about half way up at the blue line. They are $150/seat. My hockey loving, hockey playing friend has $90 seats--like I said about, 8 rows from the glass but sorta in the corner. The atmosphere down there was great, not only because the nearness of the play, but the people were much more into it. We decided that the $150 seats for those who go to see and be seen and hang out at that swanky bar at the one end. Hey, that's what's living in Dallas is all about! http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/wink.gif
SOrry folks, for taking this a bit off topic.

Bevo, you're right on the trendy, but dead wrong on the fair-weather fans. The Cowboys are terrible, but own the longest sellout streak in the league. The Stars are not doing well at all right now and are closing in on 200 consecutive sellouts. The Rangers have never won as much as a divisional playoff series and are always in the top 5 in the AL in attendance. The Mavs were bad for about 11 straight years and still averaged a good amount, all things considered. Those were some of the worst teams in NBA history. Dallas was rated the #2 sports town in the country, behind Denver by TSN.

Of course it's not going to be big on college sports. In a market that size (6th largest in the nation), it's going to be a pro sports town. All other major metro areas are the same way.
Look at how pathetic the national champion Canes attendance is, for an example.

Say Bear -- are you certain of that claim regarding the Cowboys having the longest streak of sold out games? In 1970 I placed my name on a waiting list for Redskin season tickets. Twenty seven years later, they built a larger stadium and I got me seats.

Current skin. Current. I should have added that in there. Yes RFK was way too small as a stadium, but it could get loud.
