First, Congrats! to the Sooners for winning the championship of the most competitive conference in wcbb!

Even with 3 ( http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/wink.gif ) conference losses, being all alone in first place is a tremendous season and OU should be very proud of what they have accomplished.

Ok, Ok. Maybe Tech doesn't have much of a chance on the road. Man- I wish that early season game was in Norman and this one was in Lubbock. The Raiders are playing so well in the U.S.A. right now. Not that they can't pull the upset on the road, but the probabilities based on recent history is not good. The loss at OSU is not looking so bad after all, since the Cowgirls punched out the Cyclones and almost lassoed the Bears too.

Coach Sharp has settled on a starting combination that is working pretty well together. Candi White, Tanisha Ellison and Jolee Ayers are playing so much better than when this team was such a gracious host in Lubbock almost 8 weeks ago. Heck, the whole team is playing so much better. Offensive movement has been spotted, free throws are no longer a 50/50 proposition and rebounding is rumored to be a big priority. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/wink.gif Senior Tanisha Ellison had the best game of her career last Tues vs A&M and senior Candy White had the best game of her career Sat vs Neb. Good time for them to get hot. Now its's time for the other senior, Amber Tarr, to have the best game of her career. She will be rested, I hope she is ready and her back has recovered.

I'm sure Oklahoma is playing better too. Glad this one is on TV.

Go http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/ttu.gif! Beat the conference champs!

I think Tech will give Oklahoma "run for their money." Tech is playing the best basketball they've played all year. Marsha has gotten the team readied at "just the right time of year." Don't look for a blow-out by OU in this one. In fact, Tech may make a real game of it. Playing at home, however, is a real big plus for OU. Almost an exclusive "senior line-up," so they will work to "go out in style."

And add that is on TV too. The LR don't tend to play their best ball when they are on regional or national TV, although, they did play well against Wisconsin and UT. Who knows? Go Lady Raiders!!

you know, Dblt......I was a little leary of this game when I first saw it on the schedule back in October.

The past 2 years on senior night, OU has had to play OSU at Lloyd Noble and no matter how much they may have just blown them out in Stillwater, Oklahoma State played them close and tough. Last years game went into overtime.....I had begun to believe that senior night is hard. But Oklahoma State has followed the same pattern this year, so I don't have a clue how these OU seniors will play.

Debbie Antonelli, FSN said in her broadcast today that she had noticed after OU's win at Missouri, they were very even-keeled, no real celebrating......they weren't finished with what they started.
I can't wait, I think it will be a great game. Texas Tech needs the win for the committee and Oklahoma needs to not falter anymore on the way to the #1 seed.

Looking forward to the game http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif I mentioned in an earlier thread that I can't think of a more befitting team to be hosting as we say goodbye to the group of girls who have turned the OU program upside down......Sherri Coale has a tremendous amount of respect for Marsha Sharp and Texas Tech and their program.....I think the word she used was "class"....and they modelled at lot of those things after the things she saw at Texas Tech.

Has Texas Tech ever had to play on Tuesday at the tournament?

This year there may be two firsts for Texas Tech basketball in the Big 12 tournament:

The women have never played in the first round before.
The men have never had a bye in the first round before.

DblT81: I'll add one too that that always puzzled me a great deal: Focus on winning the Tournament! In the past Sharp has always said she doesn't really put too much focus on winning the tournament, but having a good showing and leave enough in the tank for the post season. I think this year is completely different and we need more wins than ever, to even be considered to host, so it will be interesting if we see a difference.

Do I believe the new and improved Lady Raiders can beat OU on Senior Night? You bet!

More importantly...do they believe they can take this game? I think they do and I think they relish the opportunity to show the rest of the league!

Will they? If they come out with the intensity that we've seen grow from game to game the last couple of weeks...I believe they will make a great game of it and could pull off the win.

We need every win we can get out of the conference tournament to keep alive the possibility of hosting NCAA first rounds.

I too in some ways wish it were in Lubbock. But on the other hand, we need a good test of this team on the road.

If we have to play on the road to end the season, I'd rather have the chance to end it against a team/coach like OU in a big game on TV!

an excerpt from Sherri Coale's diary:
http://soonersports.fansonly.com/sports/w-baskbl/spec-rel/coale-diary.html

Wednesday is Senior Night. We formally say goodbye to six incredible kids while simultaneously celebrating sole ownership of the conference championship. It won't be the last home game for these kids as we should host the 1st and 2nd rounds of the NCAA Tournament, but it is an opportunity to recognize their contributions and allow our fans to appreciate the impact they've had on this program. This night always makes me nauseas. I have a group of kids who try too hard on the most normal of days. I can only imagine what they might be like on Wednesday. I am completely prepared for airballs and travels, and I have a stockpile of quick hitting jokes for the four time outs I might need to call in the opening five minutes of the game. Senior Night is always unpredictable so I'm going to be prepared for anything
