81,940 Texas
137,433 Iowa State
24,451 Texas A&M

Do you think we can get 179,344 before the end of the year?
Does anyone remember what last years total was?

Well, every team is responsible for 8.3% of the million fan goal. So I ask: who fell short? Just about everyone. Kansas State, Texas Tech, and Iowa State each did their part in getting the 83,333 fans they are responsible for. Come on other Big XII fans! Let's get with the program! Texas came close but fell short 1500 or so.

In all fairness to Oklahoma, their per-game attendance is actually higher than Texas, but they have had 11 home games to Texas' 15.

I will guarantee right now that OU will exceed the target figure after their next 3 home games.

I believe that playoff games also factor into the equation, since the figure is tickets purchased for games played by Big 12 teams in the 2001-2002 season.

I would estimate the following attendance figures for the remaining 6 regular season games:

Colorado at Nebraska 6,000+
Texas at Kansas 1,000
Baylor at Iowa State 13,000+
Missouri at Kansas State 10,000
Texas Tech at Oklahoma 10,000+
Oklahoma State at Texas A&M 2,000

Total through regular season estimated at 863,000

There are 11 games in the Big 12 tourney, so I would guess a figure of about 50,000-60,000 for those games, which would bring the total to around 920-930 thousand prior to the NCAA tournament.

Six or possibly seven schools will likely host the subregionals, meaning a possible 12-14 more games there. Assuming that attendance up to the regionals was 920,000, then attendance of 8,000 per game would be needed to reach the million fan mark if only 10 games were played by hosting schools. Since NCAA tournament games are likely to have high attendance at hosting schools, I would anticipate that the million fan mark is definitely attainable this year.

YCN, last years Big 12 attendance at the tournament was:

31,831........what they did last year is rated it per session, which is either 2 games or the one championship game.

You know, that's not fair, shouldn't the attendance be counted PER GAME rather than per session.

the year before 29,961.

If they continue to "count" in this manner......we won't get near
50 - 60,000 at the tournament.

swok34, counting by "session" is a crock, because if people buy tickets based on two games, then they damn well ought to be credited for that, even if they step out early.

The NCAA doesn't do that. Take a look at the attendance from last year and you will see, for instance, that OU was sold out not only for their game at LNC, but for the Stanford game as well.

What a crock!

Somebody needs to get on the Big 12's case about this, because conservatism is one thing, and idiocy is another.

I agree YCN......2 games should be counted as 2 games not 1 session.

Last year: Total Attendance: 31,831 --
Average/Session: 5,305

If you were to count *each game, it would have been 55,509 fans...
