Thanks for your post YCN.

We are going to miss Kristin Rethman very much. She has been an excellent player for K-State for four years but she has also been an excellent leader for our young team. She is "All Conference" in attitude and a class individual. Wherever she goes from here, she will be an asset and a fine person.

Shalondra Booker has been a fun player and we would have REALLY been up the creek without her last year. She always brought lots of energy and an agressive STYLE to the floor every night. She always was and still is my wife's favorite player (after Nicole).

God's speed seniors! We are going to miss you.

I was wondering what traditions all the different schools have for senior night.

At Iowa State the celebration is after the game. The players are introduced with their parents then each of the senior have a chance to talk to the crowd.

At Tech, the seniors are introduced with their parents and then everything proceeds normally. In the event of a blowout victory (which usually happens on senior night), Marsha Sharp pulls the seniors out together or one by one with about 7 min. left so the crowd can give them a standing ovation.

At Texas the seniors are recognized before the game and their contributions to the team identified. The families of all the players are recognized at half time, then after the game, the players get to introduce their families and to ask their families a question to answer for the fans. Great questions and humerous answers. JC also tends to put the seniors together on the floor to play and to take them out one at a time so that the crowd can show appreciation for each.

OU waits until after the game and typically they introduce the players one by one with their parents and family....and they each have a highlight film....and I think they announce what they've accomplished in their playing years......oh by gosh, we'll be there all night just getting through Stacey Dales. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif

I would say I think they have more focus on the game at hand by doing it this way, but I recall Whaley's senior night....she had some problems in the first half, so I'm not sure it matters.

It is usually time-consuming (that's not a complaint), so it makes sense that they wait until afterwards.
