Temeka Johnson, LSU's feisty 5-3 point guard, was a second-team pick. Baylor had Sophia Young on the second team and Steffanie Blackmon on the third.
Also on the second team were Minnesota's Janel McCarville, Stanford freshman Candice Wiggins and Mississippi State's Tan White. The other third-team selections were Notre Dame's Jacqueline Batteast, North Carolina's Ivory Latta, Texas' Tiffany Jackson and DePaul's Khara Smith.
No Dionnah Jackson :(

Thanks for the link swok34. That was an interesting article. I hadn't paid a lot of attention to the award lists, but I had at least assumed Strom was on some of them.
ahhh, but did you catch who he rates as the best PG.......:D
Penn State's Jess Strom is one of the top guards in the country, according to the Tendex System.
Player Tendex rating
Dionnah Jackson, Oklahoma .772
Cappie Pondexter, Rutgers .601
Jess Strom, Penn State .562
Temeka Johnson, LSU .478
Yolanda Paige, West Virginia .469
Erin Grant, Texas Tech .448
Ivory Latta, North Carolina .439
Jenni Dant, DePaul .434
Anessa Smith, Maryland .410
Jamie Carey, Texas .364
I'm maybe an OU homer, and I'll admit that there are some biases that I hold dear, but for those people out there tossing out awards like they are pinata prizes, I can tell you that from the point of view of a fan of the game, and not as an Oklahoma fan, Dionnah Jackson was as worthy of All-American status as any point guard this year. That may be my "biased" opinion, but it is entirely backed up by the facts shown by statistics. On a statistical comparison basis, there is literally not one PG in the country that stacks up to what DJ has done this year, and for her career.
The tendency is to award AA status to players on the best teams. I'm sorry that OU wasn't better this year. I would presume that if the Sooners were favored to win a national title she'd be the favorite hands-down.
It figures it would be like that.

Dang...can NOT believe that Cappie Pondexter, Kim Smith, Dee-Dee Wheeler, etc are on this list and Erin Grant is NOT.
I do agree about D, she is more than deserving of being more that HR.

From Mechelle's article
http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/sports/11214562.htm
Wecker was the second Sunflower State native this week to be an AP first-teamer; Kansas senior Wayne Simien of Leavenworth received that honor on the men's side Tuesday.
“It's cool to think we were both the player of the year in Kansas when we were seniors in high school, and four years later we're both Big 12 player of the year and All-Americans,” Wecker said. “He called and left a message on my phone the other night after we'd lost, and that was really nice of him. Because, obviously, he knows what it's like, how it feels, because it happened to him this year. But we both have a lot to look forward to, still, with our careers.”
