View Full Version : Pick'em results - coming soon!

I had pretty much finished up the Pick-em results for the latest session, and exhibiting that same mean streak of stupidity that I'm known for, I decided to check my email before posting my results.

As fate would have it, my virus scanner apparently burped on one of my messages and lock-solid froze up my computer. My only out was a hard reboot, then a file repair session because of a damaged Outlook message store.

Oh, did I forget to tell you that I didn't save my spreadsheet before checking my email? My bad...

Anyway, it's been a tough couple of weeks, and while I know everyone on this board is waiting on pins and needles to see the scores, they won't be happening tonight, and maybe not until Saturday morning.

I'd like to add that this is the first session where people have the opportunity to drop their worst session from their results. It should be interesting to see if there are any significant ranking changes because of this.

I was thisclose to an elegant solution to calculating those scores, too...

YCN,

I know how that goes. I've been there, done that before (deleted a program I had been writing for 2 weeks). I hope that you aren't too worried about it.

If there is anything we can do to help, like calculating it for you, just let us know.

It's not a problem. I have a solid program for computing the results, although I still think it lacks the elegance I'm looking for.

It's just that I need to clear my mind for a day or so, and recharge the batteries. The work pressures have been a bit intense lately, and I don't need to be putting fun above paychecks right now.

I'll have the results soon enough. I can tell you that a surprising number of people went 6-0 in a session where I thought I'd run the table - and went 4-2.

My story for the whole season. My conference predictor has been far better than I've been, but I'd much rather be wrong while wishing to be right, than right and wishing I was wrong.

Story of my life. I'll be picking OU to beat Texas this weekend too. I'll probably be wrong, but I won't give up on my Sooners, not now or ever.

You have got to be kidding. For years now I've been saving everything I work on every two or three minutes, no exaggeration. Some think it's nuts, but it takes me 0.3 seconds each time and can (and has) saved hours and days of grief and agonized gnashing of teeth. I heartily recommend it.

Well dem, if you spend that much time worrying about bad things, you might have a future in the insurance business.

Suspenders, belt, and an extra pair of longjohns -- that's my MO with persnickety hardware. Computers and me, we just don't get along.

Hm. I now backup at about the same pace as dem and I program FOR an insurance company. You may be on to something here... ;)
