It was emotional and it was awesome; tears were shed by players, parents, coaches and fans alike. And in a night and a game that was a celebration of the four year contributions of Chelsea Domenico, Brie Madden, Laurie Koehn, Megan Mahoney and Kendra Wecker, contribute they did!
Chelsea had a season high 7 assists as well as 4 rebounds and 0 turnovers
Brie had 7 rebounds and a blocked shot
Laurie hit five treys to become 3rd all time in NCAA 3-point shots. Earlier in the week, Koehn was named to the All District All Academic team with a 3.97 gpa. Last year she was named All American Academic and, no doubt, will be again this season.
Megan hit 6 of 10 shots for 14 points, had 5 rebounds and 4 assists. The first two of those assists resulted in her becoming the KSU all-time assists leader. She is one of two wildcats to score a triple double in her career and this season has been named to the 2nd team All District Academic team with a 3.75 gpa
Kendra had 20 points and 14 rebounds. Her 1,002 (and counting) rebounds is a KSU school record which was, appropriately achieved on this celebratory night. She, too, has been named to the 2nd team All District Academic team with a 3.45 gpa.
At half-time, Cyndi Koehn, mother of Laurie, spoke to the crowd on behalf of the ten parents who were all in attendance. She thanked the crowd for the loyal support over the past four years that has been given to their daughters.
Truly, it has been a mutual love affair.
