The Oklahoma State Rivals board and Tigerboard both have current discussions on "your All Big XII team." They mean the guys, but being the troublemaker I am I'm planning to respond with an All Big XII womens team (probably leadning to another 2 week long argument about Title IX...always amazed at some of the lame excuses they come up with for opposing Title IX, including the misconception that football's a BIG moneymaker.)
So, what's YOUR all Big XII team? I'll feel no guilt about personal bias in including Karensa Barr on mine...

So so hard to do. I'll go with the following:

1st team: (and I'm not just picking by position)
Welle, Ohlde, Lambert, Dales, Gahan
My reasoning: Welle is probably the most consistent player in the league and always leads in Hoopla! point average. Gahan has been playing in the shadow of Welle all her career yet she is always in the Top 5 in conference in production. Losing Welle next year hurts ISU. Losing Welle and Gahan is an absolute killer. Lambert is phenomenal and will have a good long career in the WNBA. Ohlde has emerged as a superstar in this league and although only a sophomore, deserves recognition for her emergence this year. Dales has put in another great year. Makes everyone better on her team and whenever everyone else doesn't show up, she will the Sooners to victory. So that's my Top 5.

2nd team:
Caufield, Wecker, Crockrom, Wilson, Stephens
I believe this 2nd five would nearly make a 1st 5 for any other conference. What unbelievable talent for a 2nd team. There is basically no fall off from the 1st team to this one - it's just that a team can only have 5 players. If Caufield, Crockrom, and Stephens would have been just a bit more consistent this season, they would be on the 1st team. Lambert just has more moves than Wilson.

3rd team:
Cannon, Nightingale, Skibbe, Hill, Perkins
No one gives better effort than Nightingale. Cannon has had a very productive 1st year in league and is easily the newcomer of the year. Skibbe emerges as a force to be reckoned with. Hill plugs along and is currently demolishing OU's career double-double record. Perkins has fallen off quite a bit lately and so I drop her to third team. As long as she recovers she'll stick here. If not, then one of the honorable mentions takes her place.

Honorable mention:
Unrau, Williams, Barr, Cummings, Schreiber, Koehn, Mahoney, Bjorklund, and Banahan
Rest of the Big 12 players that have had spectacular stretches this season. Below this group I feel are players that are not consistent enough yet to be mentioned.

Freshman of the Year: Wecker
Newcomer: Cannon
Player of the Year: Welle

Dales, Lambert, and Caufield all made charges for POY honors. But in the end, Welle's consistency can't be beat.

How do I think the media and coaches will vote? Well, since ISU is just middle of the pack right now, I bet that POY will go to Dales, Newcomer and FOY will probably go as I have them. And most likely the first team will end up being something like: Welle, Dales, Lambert, Crockrom, and Caufield. They always prefer seniors and Gahan has never, and will never, get the respect she deserves.

Great post, Schooner. Can't say I disagree with anything you said.

I think it was just a month ago I put Caufield on my 1st team, but she has been rather inconsistant lately and with so many great players in this league, you can't ignore that.
Gahan has been one of my favorite players the past 2 years; she does finally deserve some accolades.
I also had Nightingale higher, but as you said, the inconsistancy pushes her down a bit.

Pardon my bias, but I'd have Karensa Barr up a little higher than H.M.

There are just too many GREAT players out there that will be selected to the top All-Big XII teams, and some really GOOD players will have to settle for honorable mention. I have to agree that Barr is good player. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif It will be interesting to see how it pans out.
