OU vs. UCONN:
Hill and Talbert foul out, Caufield, Ross, Dales, and 4 UCONN starters finish with 4 fouls. 41 total fouls called
"It was very difficult to get into any kind of rhythm because there were just too many stops of play," UConn coach Geno Auriemma said. "You have to be able to play through that."
OU vs. Iowa State:
Welle and Hill foul out - Technical called on the OU bench. 49 fouls called.
OU vs. Texas:
Hill and Schreiber foul out. Technical called on the Texas bench. 47 fouls called.
Common thread #1 - these games comprise OU's three losses
Common thread #2 - Scott Yarbrough officiates all three games......
Does Yardbird know we don't pay to watch him???

Very interesting. But I'll repeat what Van Chancellor said (kind of). This guy sounds like he's consistent. You've got to make the adjustments in your play if so.

Of all people, OU *****ing about the calls. Next, Tech will turn on Poly, Ester, and Stretch! Actually, in the game last night, Texas was in more foul trouble than OU. 4 Starters with 4 fouls each; 2 starters foul out. Our high scorer fouls out. It wasn't the calls, believe me. If anything, OU got the best of the calls. The problem for the Sooners was their inability to make the free throws when they counted most. That's internal...not a referee.

Oh Your Airness,
I did not intend my post to be a complaint about last nights officiating - what I was trying to convey was the number of fouls that seem to be called when Scotty is on the court - far be it from me to insinuate that officiating was the reason OU lost these games. You are ever so correct in stating that it was missed free throws - make the charity points and we win by 11. I do think it was a shame for both teams that play was stopped so often for fouls - on both teams!

I've been going to these games for 18 years now. From Southwest Conference to the Big XII. And I must agree: the officiating in the Big XII is very poor. The SEC has the best officiating, with the PAC 10 next. Ours is a mess! You're completely correct about too many calls. When teams get more than the 15-18 range, it's too much. At the Big XII Tournament, they usually do a total "about face" and let the teams play. Otherwise, there's never a "flow to the game," and the teams/players are constantly frustrated. Good luck this Saturday (?) in Norman.

I like the way the referees handled the last OU/Texas game....
they pulled the team captains aside and told them to clean it up or they would blow whistles left and right.....
It worked and it was effective......

It is amazing how the officiating improves at the tournament (knock on wood) - and it is amazing that, generally, I have never seen the refs that show up in KC. By the way, I have been going to the women's games in Norman since 1978, with the exception of the late 80's - I was one of those 63 fans that Marita Hynes talks about.
Your Lady Horns should finish 10-6 in the conference - you could end up as a 3 or 4 seed. Good luck! - I was lucky enough to meet Coach Conradt at the Women's College World Series a couple years ago - she is one class act!

Based on prior posts, I will never get into an officiating excuse for a loss. Texas played hard, made more shots and points in OT and won the game. Congrat's to the Lady Horns.
Even if this guy calls a lot of fouls, ---figure it out or just keep fouling.
