Don't think anyone posted this already...

We have 7 coaches nominated out of 20. Coaches Coale and PAtterson are probably the only two Big XII coaches with a legit shot, based on OU's great season and KSU's rise from nowhere. The Naismith Awards are a joke anyway, so who knows. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif It looks like they just picked the coaches of the top 20 teams in the nation.

Jane Albright, Wisconsin
Geno Auriemma, Connecticut
Ceal Barry, Colorado
Leon Barmore, Louisiana Tech
Sherri Coale, Oklahoma
Tom Collen, Colorado State
Jody Conradt, Texas
Kristy Curry, Purdue
Bill Fennelly, Iowa State
Jim Foster, Vanderbilt
Gail Goestenkors, Duke
Cathy Inglese, Boston College
Kim Mulkey-Robertson, Baylor
Brenda Oldfield, Minnesota
Deb Patterson, Kansas State
Carol Ross, Florida
Marsha Sharp, Texas Tech
Pat Summitt, Tennessee
Tara VanDerveer, Stanford
Susan Walvius, South Carolina

Of the Big XII coaches, it seems as though Deb Patterson has a shot, since the team has had such a great year....unexpected as it was. Only 6 players to use, and they have such a great record! That's good coaching! Of course, if they start a "down-hill" turn, that's all a mute point.

If Baylor makes a "real splash" in the NCAA's, KMR is a good choice, especially if she wears those tight leather pants.

But, given the "status of the award," perhaps Jody and Marsha should be highly considered. The importance of "this year" is not the cornerstone of the award. Jody definately is a "foundation" for women's basketball. And Marsha has had her moments, as well.
