Oklahoma State. I thought I wouldn't pick the Cowgirls again this year until possibly when Kansas came to town, but they have looked much better of late. This is by no means an easy game, but I think if they play well they win it.
Baylor. It better not be the same Baylor team I saw Saturday, or Wecker will go nuts.
Iowa State. And no Hilton magic necessary. Though I was glad to see it work against OU on the men's side and keep the Cowboys in the conference race.
Oklahoma. Here's the win Coale's bunch needs to get back on track.
Texas. The Longhorns are just way too talented.

The list above for YCN's ease in recording my picks and here are some comments:
NU v OSU Although Tech won big in Stillwater, OSU had a very good trapping defense in the half court that I don't think the LRs have faced this season. It resulted in a bunch of turnovers for the LRs. Stone was just shut down by Dabbs and so OSU didn't have the offense to go with the defense. So if all their better attributes align, the Cowgirls can give another team fits. I expect the Huskers to win but they've got to control Stone and take care of the ball.
KSU @ Baylor Bears please win. please.
Iowa St Is Bill good or what? In fact, it just really irritates me that top recruits from California to NY won't give Big 12 teams a look. As mentioned in the Lubbock article yesterday about TV, that is beginning to change with California due to internet and FSN allowing the left coasters to see their kids play in the Big 12 regularly. So the Paris twins and other Californians are starting the reverse migration. Anyway, back to Bill and the other coaching genius that heads up all the Big 12 teams. As Sharp says in her interview in Texas Monthly magazine it is all about getting the talent. You can be the best coach on earth but can't go anywhere without the talent. Bill was stiffed by some recruits for a few years. Who knows why. But he gets some of those better players via transfer and Voila! winners. Sharp gets the best player in the country for a couple of years and Voila! National Championship. I have no doubt that Barry could do it with the talent, Conradt has done it, Coale has almost done it, frankly, so has Gary Blair. And on and on with the young coaches in this league, national championships are very possible with the right kids. The talent in the head seat on the benches in this conference is second to none as a group. Come play for them, you girl's basketball phenoms, and they will make you winners. Pat Summitt and Gail Goestenkors and Geno Auriemma don't have nothing over our group in the X's&O's department. [/rant over]
Oklahoma has got to get this one on the road. KU seems to just run out of gas with not much depth. Will Coale play the 'who runs out of gas first' game with Bonnie?
Texas A&M is starting to remind me of Rutgers. Ugh. Speaking of that, what ever happened to hand check fouls and why do they apply to some teams and not to others? UT's freshman Erneshia Bailey gets two back to back hand check fouls trying to closely guard Grant in the UT/TT game in Lubbock. They were proper calls and a lesson learned by the young guard. A&M's guards hand check the entire game all over the court and it is hardly called. If it is described in the rule book as a foul, why don't they call it? Just because a team does it a lot shouldn't make it suddenly legal. [/second rant over]

DblT81, I believe that hand checks are allowed for a certain count. I do not know how long it is but I think it is allowed with one hand only for a two second count or something like that.

Nebraska at Oklahoma State....OSU showed some moxie against Baylor and had a chance to win late, and that's prompting some people to say that my Huskers will be the fop against the league's cellarmaids.
OSU plays a pressure defense, it a lot similar to Creighton's pressure schemes. Schemes built over a period of years by a tactician named, Connie Yori.
I expect Nebraska to walk into Gallagher-Iba focused on one thing, domination. This is another test in our growth as a competitive team. How we deal with a backfielder. Lets destroy this team, then focus in on beating Oklahoma.
Nebraska 79, Oklahoma State 51
(Wednesday)
Kansas State at Baylor.....All the Baylor folks can rest easy. I'm picking Kansas State. Wecker's on a tear right now, and KSU's guard play is better and that will be the difference.
Kansas State 76, Baylor 69
Colorado at Iowa State.......Colorado's defense was good for much of the game Saturday against KSU. Its just one of the years when the team just lacks a couple of sparkplugs for the engine to fire right.
Those 'Clones are feeling it right now. It's Bill Fennelly's kind of team. Saturation Bombing from the inside and solid play inside. When its working it hard to stop. When its not working, they still find a way.
Iowa State 77, Colorado 62
Oklahoma at Kansas............The Jayhawks played a fine defense against Nebraska and picked their spots on offense. They were beaten back by superior firepower. That's how I see this game going, although they will get a chance to win it late.
Oklahoma is a team in flux. The biggest weakness I see in Oklahoma? They have a group of shooters who don't shoot consistently well, and can't do much else beside shoot. Dionnah Jackson and Leah Rush are getting hernia's carrying the Shoushs, Welches and Prestons on their backs right now. Hmm, sound kind of like I'm familar with.
OU will gain anothe Coale-powered victory. Oklahoma 60, Kansas 55
Texas A&M at Texas....The Empire Strikes First. The Empire Strikes Fastest. Fear will keep the local systems in line. Fear of this battle station.
TAMU will not be in this game, no matter how ugly they make it. Too much talent for the Burnt Orange Reich, especially with Tiffany Jackson dialed in to what's going on. A focused Longhorns squad will blow the Aggies out and right Jody Conradt has this group focused.
Texas 94, Texas A&M 54

:nu: - Watch out Nebraska, OSU is hungry, but I think the disappointing loss to Baylor will have an impact on OSU.
:bu: - Wouldn't surprise me if KSU won, but I think Baylor will defend their home court on this one, only if they stop Wecker.
:isu: - After watching this team last week, they will win a lot more games!
:ou: - The Sooners will be ready and it is a must win for them.
:ut: - A&M is going to beat someone big soon, but Texas is playing better than they were. Had A&M had them earlier, they could have pulled it off.

Nebraska at Oklahoma State - I'd like to see Oklahoma State competitive in the Big XII, just don't think it's quite there yet. Though, every once in while, you wonder if OSU has turned a corner.
Kansas State at Baylor - very interesting matchup.......the most intriguing of this weeks' picks IMO.
Colorado at Iowa State - Every once in a while the Twisted Sisters can't get those balls going through the hoops.......though they have better success in homeland.
Oklahoma at Kansas - sorry Jayhawks.......no 3rd conference win for you tonite.
Texas A&M at Texas - might not be very pretty; but I was impressed with TAMU on Sunday. I think throwing those freshmen out into the fire, they are picking up on more than a few things....Still, not enough offensive power for the likes of JamieCarey,NinaNorman,TiffanyJackson,KalaBowers,He atherSchrieber.

I'll never catch up this way....
KSU @ Baylor - Huh. Yikes. Is there more room at the top? The Schwam says... YES. :bu: if they stay in Wecker's face...
OU @ NU - Elimination time? Definitely, for the Huskers. Can OU pull it together? Dionnah vs. Kiera = draw. Leah vs. Who? :ou: finds a way but it's close. Sorry Chipper...
A&M @ Texas - Gary will have them ready and they'll fight like it's their last game on earth, but all they'll come away with is respect again. Someday, thoughh... :ut: and hopefully by a lot. I like stomping aggy.
Colorado @ ISU - well, the Buffs will try, because Ceal won't settle for less, but Ames and Wild Bill's well-oiled machine are in high gear now...wonder who's giving the 'Clones that 1st place vote ? ;) :isu: rolling thunder...
