Morenike Atunrase (Texas A&M) was chosen Big 12 Rookie of the Week

She "averaged 14.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.0 steals and 33.5 minutes of playing time during games at No. 20 Kansas State and at home versus Oklahoma. At Kansas State, she led all scorers with 13 points. She also grabbed five rebounds while matching her season best with five steals. Atunrase is the only player in the league to rank in the top four among Big 12 freshmen in scoring, rebounds, steals and blocks. Atunrase leads the league's freshmen in steals and blocks and has already set the A&M freshman record for blocks in a season. She also has matched the overall school record for blocks in a game."

I'll be looking forward to seeing this young woman play. She is listed variously as a 5'10 or 5'11 guard/forward but appears to have started inside as part of a very small Aggie line-up against OU. At one time, Sybil had Texas listed on her recruiting site in association with Atunrase. I can't remember anything in particular now except thinking that Atunrase sounded like an intriguing prospect.

One of the things our radio crew said several times was how young, athletic and talented the Aggies were. Also, they said that Gary Blair has signed a good recruiting class for next year. Hum, I guess we should be looking over our shoulders...yeh, like we don't enough already!

I listened to Gary's postgame conference and he mentioned that everyone would slide up a spot, so they must have a center coming in......
