View Full Version : OU sailing to victory
With about 2 minutes left, the Sooners are leading Nebraska 77-44, and will clinch a share of a likely undisputed conference championship today.
My impression is that OU is getting their second wind, after a little bit of a slump mid-season. This is a VERY good sign.
This team will be one of the ones to beat in March.
Jamie Talbert had one of the best games of her career today.
(Please, please - let the Sooners or some Big 12 team get to San Antone! If the conference gets there, we have a great chance of winning!)
Wasn't it 29-24 at one point? Nebraska stayed within striking distance most of the first half, but then OU started to pull away at the end of the half and apparently blew them out in the second half.
Mred I missed most of the game. I thought the game was to start at 4:00pm local time, and it started an hour earlier. Other things (the BU-UT game) kept me from tuning in for more than the last few minutes.
I have listened to most of OU's games start to finish this year, when they weren't on TV.
I didn't see/hear any of it. I just cheched score updates and was surprised to see Nebraska within a handful late in the half. I saw that OU stretched the lead to a dozen at the half, but I hadn't checked the score since until you made your post.

Hmmm. Actually game started a little bit after 4 pm. I got to the game a little late - just after 4 pm and the teams were still doing some warmup drills.
Great game. Everyone played in this game with 5 players playing the last 3 1/2 minutes that normally don't get to play much.
Unfortunately for Cannon, she had a dreadful game. Seemed to probably be more of her own fault rather than something OU did to her. She seemed really off her game today ending with only 6 points I believe. She was throwing up 3-point airballs.
OU clinches at least a tie for first in conference with still 3 games left to go.
schooner, I live in Colorado (right now).

There were at least 2 Nebraska players that didn't travel to Norman........actually I couldn't find 4 of them, but there was a player on the bench in street clothes and Robinette wasn't with the team at all, I don't think.
Physical game........just like you all said. Seems the majority of OU's points in the first half were in the post via Jamie and Caton, if I remember correctly. I think every Sooner scored except for 1....and every Sooner played. Even the bench knocked down 2 - 3 balls in a row......

interesting tidbit:
Stacey Dales went over 700 career assists today. She now has 706. The senior needs just nine more to move onto the NCAA's top 30 list. The current No. 30 is ESPN sportscaster Beth Mowins (Lafayette) with 715.
another tidbit that answers my own question:
The Huskers played without starters Katie Robinette and Stephanie Jones, who were suspended for one game for an undisclosed reason.
