It sounded like they were on a mission to win for the coach. Sunday's game is making me nervous.

I'm confused. Can someone please explain this conference to me again? http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif

This loss effectively puts Tech in 7th place. They have two more losses than any of the top 6 teams. They have the same number of losses as Missouri, but Missouri has a monster schedule to end the season (OU, @KSU, ISU, @TAMU) compared to Tech's much more tame one (@OU, NU, TAMU). Also, this means Missouri has one more chance to lose than Tech.

By the way, go http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/ttu.gif! Beat Wisconsin!

Wow. Tech's hosting chances are in serious jeopardy now.

When will this bad dream be OVER!! They don't deserve to host anything the way they played tonight. Blowing 10 point leads, no heart, no focus, no intensity = losses.

I think this line pretty much tells the story:

TURNOVERS: 20 (Perkins 5, Ayers 4, Simmons 4, Ritchie 2, White 2, Ellison, Greenwalt)

Perkins 25 2-9 0-1 0 3 2 0 4

If Tech wins out including the Big XII tournament (and that would include a win @OU), they would have a 9-7 regular season conference record and a 23-9 overall record. I don't know if that's good enough to host, although such a strong showing at the end of the season would be taken into consideration.

I'm having to consider that they are 7th in the Big 12 and not showing any signs of being able to run the table here on out. Mathematically - sure, lots of things still possible. But in reality? No, odds are against Tech big time.

Doesn't the committee place emphasis on the last 10 games to see whether they are surging or falling.........

Tech has 8 games left if they play every day of the tourney through Saturday, so these last 2 losses would be on their little cards....Baylor at home is not a bad loss, but losing to an unranked team.........?

No, losing to a Big 12 member institution.

The bar has been raised, officially now - there are no easy games in the Big 12.

Not even Kansas?

What was Tech going "to host" anyway? A birthday party for Bobby Knight?

mred, not even Kansas. I watched that team play their hearts out against OU, and I won't be shocked if they beat somebody before the season is over.

Kansas has four games left: KSU, @ISU, UT, and the 5 seed in the Big XII tournament. It'll take an incredible game to win any of these.

I'm not by any stretch of the imagination saying that Kansas is a good basketball team, but considering the fact that they have lost game after game this year, they acquitted themselves well after a 1st half where they wouldn't have put a penny in the Grand Canyon.

In the second half, rather than going whimperingly to an embarrassing defeat, which was entirely possible (read UConn 88, St. John's 28), they fought hard against a second-half mixture of starters and reserves at OU. They shot over 60% and matched OU shot for shot.

While you may think they they didn't "play their hearts out", consider the obvious gap in talent between the two teams, and the fact that OU is now leading the entire conference by 3 games. To say that they didn't put out effort isn't true and I know it, because I watched the same game that you did, albeit on TV. Were you lulled to sleep by the halftime score?

OU led by the same amount at the end of the game. That is 1/2 of a game playing straight-up with the team that likely is the best in the Big 12, and one of the very best in the country.

I'll stand by my statement - If Kansas beats someone before the season is over, it will not surprise me.

This was a devastating loss for the team. It's been hard for me to absorb and I'm just a fan.

It's been awhile since I haven't been worried going into a game. OSU has given us trouble in Stillwater before, but man......this was bad timing.

These kids need to learn the difference between playing with intensity and playing tight. They can play hard, with determination and intensity and still have fun. I'm not sure they know that.... Actually, I'm sure they do know that from their own experience, but it seems as if they've forgotten.

I don't know whether they need to get really ticked off and play mad or go as a team to see a comedy triple feature. Anything to loosen them up a little on offense right now.

Tech certainly has been generous in helping a lot of teams end losing streaks against them this year.

Probably good for us Tech fans to be poured a heaping dose of humility this season. Truly, we have been remarkably spoiled. I think the team will rebound nicely next year and those victories will be sweeter than they might have been otherwise. Plus, there have still been many enjoyable wins this year and hopefully there will be a few more ahead.

nope, I decided after halftime that I would only root for whichever team was shooting........ http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif had to make it interesting and Kansas needed a whole lot of help.

Two Cents, again, right on target. We are extremely spoiled and those close games we've pulled out in the past when things weren't going our way, aren't happening this year. This team is tight right now and it shows. I know the pressure must be getting to them and it doesn't look like they're having fun. I just hope that the coaches and the players can all put their heads together and get through this together. I think this year's losses have been a big adjustment for most all these players and and the coaches and will only help them in years to come--I hope. Ajustments have to be made, period!

I won't stop being a LR fan even if they lose. This program has too much pride and tradition to stay down long.
