Wow, what a performance by the freshman. After being down by 16 at halftime, I never thought Rutgers would make that kind of run in the second half. As the announcers said, Rutgers really shut down Tiffany Jackson in the second half, only allowing Texas to hit 5 field goals.

Texas looked very dominant in the first half and I did not see any letting up. Rutgers really made the adjustments that they needed.

What a beautiful jump shot that Ajavon has. I liked it better than Jia Perkin's. Her elevation and stroke is really great. Good hard fought win for Rutgers and tough loss at home for Texas, breaking their home win streak.

Wow! This is hard for me to believe. Texas is sooooo good. I did not get to see any of the game. Texas must have thought it was over at the half and went home to soon.

What blew me away is what's in the AP writeup:

"Heather Schreiber countered with a layup to give the Longhorns a 47-38 advantage with 8:30 remaining, but it would be their last points of the game."

When you look at the first half and the way that Texas offense was absolutely dominating, this is hard to understand. Not trying to make excuses, but were Jackson and Carey 100% (knee and thumb) after halftime?

Yuck.

About as yucky as a half of basketball can be.

I don't even wanna talk about it.  :(

Tough loss for Texas. Rutgers has a way of making it ugly.

And ugly it was, Press. It was a physical game, with many in the crowd advising the refs that the football game was yesterday. It was fortunate that no one was badly hurt but there were bodies flying everywhere. And Texas has never had a history of responding well to physical play. Could be that Jamie's thumb and Tiff's knee had an impact, but there was also Rutger's increased defensive intensity and they started making their shots in the second half and we didn't.

At the beginning of the game, Jody presented Coach Stringer a plaque honoring her 700 career wins. Coach Stringer was obviously very surprised and touched by the standing ovation from the crowd. It was a nice gesture -- but wish we hadn't given her a game to add to her win column.

So on to conference play. Hope we've learned our lesson about 15 point leads and second half play.

I just finished watching a replay of the game on one of the Fox sports channels. Texas only had 5 field goals and only 11 points in the second half. That has to be real close to a record low for them. And then to break the longest home winning streak in the country. Rutgers also just beat Tennessee. Unbelievable!

Texas' January schedule suddenly looks extremely daunting as the First-Half Horns travel to Baylor, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and Connecticut. Then, just for a little extra fun, the Horns play Baylor at home. Who designed this schedule?

Texas contributed to the physical play and they do their fair share in their own way.

Rutgers did an AWESOME job on Jackson in the 2nd half...completely limited her touches and when she got the ball, she was not in a position to score. Every Big 12 team taped that game yesterday and will look at how to defend TJ. I thought Texas came out in the 2nd half a tad complacent and by the time they woke up, Rutgers had the momentum.

Texas will learn from this and use it to their advantage during conference.

Rutgers is not a slouch team...beating both UTs is not an easy task. Now if they could just win the Big East over UConn!

Considering that Texas has given up double digit leads in all three losses this year, the Longhorns are looking like a team that comes out gangbusters and then folds if the other team fights back. No way should Texas have lost with an 18 point lead at home. I haven't felt this sick about a loss since a bus trip to Baylor a few years back during the Lambert/Crockrom days.

Rebounding killed the Horns in the second half. Tiffany appeared to be floor decoration in the second half as she hardly moved. She did not fight for position or go for rebounds. Whether she was hurt from the first-half collision or not, if she isn't playing, she should sit. Hey, what about Kalee Carey? At least Rutgers would have had to go around her and Kalee might have gotten some rebounds. Annissa could have played more minutes. Jamie Carey, Nina Norman, and Heather Schreiber (even though her shot wasn't falling) played hard and did some good things. Some other players need to contribute more. Kalee Carey and Tiffany might make a good combination for some minutes, complementing each other.

Again, the Longhorns need to toughen up, quick. The final four team of a couple of years ago was almost the opposite of this team. That team often played from behind, continuing to work hard, gradually taking over the game, and making the plays down the stretch.

Of course, I'm missing Tai Dillard and Stacy Stephens. Blue-collar Tracy Cook came to mind this morning.

No rest for the wicked in Rutgers' case. LSU travels to New Brunswick N. J. Wednesday night to face the Scarlet Knights in what could very well be the Tigers first loss.

Undoubtedly, that is true. Nevertheless, my observation over the years is that UT teams don't play well against other physical teams. Don't know why that is and other people may disagree, but it's not the first time I've noticed UT teams become sloppy and befuddled when the play becomes extremely physical. I recognize that basketball is a physical game, but am as disturbed about a Rutgers player sprawled on the court and limping to the sidelines as I am about any of the UT players. The Rutgers player made it back on the court in the second half, as did the UT players. And in the end Rutgers made second half adjustments and UT didn't. And on that note we get to welcome the start of conference play.

I too was surprised by the total fizzle in the 2nd half. I took a friend with me to the game, she had not been to one in two yrs. Her question to me was what has happened to Nina Norman & Heather Schreiber?? I said that I think Heather has been hiding and Nina is missing
Earneisha should have been out there and Annissa too and even Kaley. Why Heather played the entire 2nd half is beyond me. But then again what do i know????

I guess Rutgers is for real, having just beaten LSU in overtime. Tennessee, Texas and LSU is a tough three game win streak.

I just hate the game that Rutgers plays, even though I have to give them props this year for having a very fine team. They play the ugliest kind of basketball, and they play a very physical, thug-like style. I've seen them quite a few times and they will cheat any time they think they can get away with it. And they get away with it more than most, because they are so practiced at it.
