I think it's really neat that JJ has continued to write her journal even after graduating. She gives some interesting insight as to what it's like for all American players who choose to play overseas in an unfamiliar culture.

Thanks for posting that Spooky. A great story!
I can relate to some of the funnier language moments from my business trips to Italy when I tried to use my limited Italian (only outside of work.... at work they all thankfully spoke English or who knows what might have happened).
It sounds like she is having a year to remember for sure.

Sorry if this has been mentioned before but JJ's sister, Nikki, is redshirting this year at Washington St. Maybe next year when Nikki comes back she will run over or throw the ball at the ref who made that terrible call against Baylor in the NCAA. He's a Pac-10 ref. He also a Big 12 ref though I doubt he is welcomed in Waco.

Oh Mandy,
Why is Nikki taking a redshirt year this year? Based on the WSU sports site, she finished out the season pretty well in 03/04. I remember the build up when WSU came to Waco last year....Stratton sister vs. Stratton sister.
Out of curiosity I've checked the WSU box scores to see how the younger Stratton was doing. Always puzzling to see her name missing. You've provided a partial answer. It's appreciated if you can fill in the missing blank.

From the WSU site: Stratton has an injury to a sesamoid bone under her right big toe, which occurred last season. That's all I've ever seen, and I have looked several times to see what progress she might be making. Never heard of something like that causing so much trouble.

This looks to be about all there is to the story, at least that I could find. Fellow Sophomore Kate Benz said early last month in Kate's Chronicles, "Sophomore guard Nikki Stratton is redshirting this year because of trouble with her foot. She has her second surgery this week and is currently recovering."

Thanks for the update. I too had wondered what was going on with Nikki. I remember seeing her in Albuquerque last year during the NCAAs and she was on crutches. Someone said she was going to have surgery immediately after that week-end, but I didn't know the nature of the injury.
