That is a huge win for both Minnesota and Oklahoma. Oklahoma's chances at a #1 seed have gone up quite a bit this week. I found out too late that the Minnesota-Purdue game was on TV: I would have loved to watch it.

Go Mississippi St! Raise ISU's RPI!

I'm starting to wonder if maybe OU would get the regional in Milwaukee........isn't that one Tennessee's to lose?

I'm starting to wonder if it's Oklahoma's to lose now. There's not a big difference geographically between the Mideast and Midwest regions anyway, and I'm sure they would like to keep OU out of the Midwest. It would make sense to put Oklahoma in the Mideast and Tennessee in the Midwest. Still, Oklahoma has to hope Purdue isn't a 1 seed. If they are, the committee will try especially hard to keep them closer to home, I'm guessing. If Purdue is a 2 seed, then we could see OU and Purdue both in the Mideast.

Minnesota is now tied with Purdue for the Big Ten lead. Go Golden Gophers!

I think Brenda and her Gophers just struck a major blow against a #1 seed for Purdue, and did Oklahoma a big favor by strengthening OU's case for a #1 seed. I think right now I'd bet on Oklahoma being sent as the #1 seed to the Mideast. And really, I can't imagine that Coach Coale would be all that enthusiastic about having to come through Hilton to make it to the Final Four if there were any reasonable chance that ISU would be playing in that second game. And I think ISU players and coaches would prefer to take on one of the other top seeds rather than trying to push their luck with OU one more time. Of course I'm being pretty optimistic here about OU and ISU both making it through to the Elite Eight, but that's as likely a scenario as anything else right now, I guess.

Regarding Oklahoma State: I really think Texas Tech took a bullet that might well have hit Iowa State tonight if the schedules had been just a tiny bit different. As it is, ISU can hope that OSU has gotten it out of their system and won't be QUITE so fired up come Sunday. Dangerous game, in any event. Really can't believe that the OSU AD felt he had to fire the coach before the stretch run of the conference season was over! I hope he had some darn good reason -- it sure didn't do the rest of the Big 12 any favors . . .

I am almost certain that [this year] OU will be the top seed in the Midwest, and play two games in Norman, followed (hopefully) by two games in Ames, followed (hopefully) by two games in San Antonio.

To all you ISU fans out there, I hope you will cheer for a fellow Big 12 team on your court, because the only team that I've seen this year that didn't seem to fear UConn on their home court is OU.

OU has the kind of veteran team than could make a final statement in the tourney this year, ...

and if my family in San Antone refuse to go the the Final Four, then I will insist on them getting me tickets to the Alamo Dome!

We ISU fans will be very happy to cheer OU at Hilton -- provided only that Iowa State is not playing in the same game! And IF ISU gets a #3 seed for the NCAA tournament they will be favored to win both their 1st and 2nd round games, and only have to beat a #2 seed at Hilton to make it to that final game. The odds of all that happening are pretty decent -- not a lock by any stretch, but decent. Given that scenario, I really hope that OU gets seeded elsewhere. But certainly, the Committee may well stick us together.

Well, we won't be cheering for OU against ISU, that's for sure. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif I'm sure ISU fans will cheer for OU in any game not involving ISU, though.

ISU has come on strong recently, and if they continue that through the end of the season ISU might be considered the #2 team coming out of the conference. If that is the case, ISU and OU will not be in the same region. There's still a lot of season left, though.

dem, it's going to be interesting if OU hangs onto a 1, and ISU grabs a 3 (which I think is VERY likely).

Does the committee put a 1 and 3 from the same conference in the same regional? My feeling is they won't.

So what is the allegiance of the selection committee? Hard attendance numbers, or fairness of competition?

Either way, if OU and ISU are in the same regional, and play each other in the CG, I will root for the winner to go all the way. I have infinite respect for how ISU has been able to dominate OU's terrific team over the last 3 years.

We are all in this together. Personally my dream scenario is for four Big 12 teams to meet in the Final Four. Then we can cheer our hearts out no matter who wins!

IF OU and ISU finish as the top 2 teams in the conference come Big Dance time, surely the committee wouldn't put them in the same regional? That would be insane and I'm sure cause quite an uproar. Now if ISU falters and doesn't have a host seed, then it may be more feasible. But not if they are a 2, 3, or 4 seed.

I agree, Jennifer.......and I really think the conference is going to finish with OU #1 seed and ISU #2 seed in the Big XII (not necessarily NCAA tourney wise).....that is if everything happens like we think it will......ha, yea right!

I just can't see the committee placing the 2 strongest teams from the same conference in the same regional.
