ok, sooner fans... what the heck happened? just saw the box score and nobody could hit the broadside of a barn! this is an iowa team that should not have won this game (imo). i'm wondering if the shooting was just that bad or if something else was going on that the box score does not reflect. if i remember correctly, OU's shooting percentage was 23.9% or something like that, but iowa was only 9 of 24 from the line. honestly, i was pretty blown away when i saw the score pop up on tv. oh well... we'll just have to get iowa on wednesday. would rather have them over-confident when we go to iowa city anyway.

go state!

Bad shooting......and I'm talking about point blank layups.
This is the worst that a Sherri Coale team has ever shot.

I'm actually not surprised that they got beat; in the first two games where OU should have won handily....they did, but you could almost sense a lack of "flow".

I'm not sure that Sherri has ever had this much bench to work with and is not even at the point of knowing the rotations herself. It's a matter of substituting to see who has the hot hand that particular game.

Each game, it's been a different player that's come up in a big way........today, no one seemed to be able to do that...
they all missed chippy layups.

Yikes...swok...I hate to see them get beat.

I'm sure you saw the Yahoo article after the 2nd game??

It sounds like they have some things to work out between now and conference...knowing Sheri she'll have them ready to roll.

It's one thing to win ugly and it's quite something else to lose ugly. It was bad enough to listen to on the radio, I can't imagine how bad it must have looked in person or on TV.

According to Coach Coale in the post-game interview, OU was 4-19 from point-blank range. When you see that stat, it is amazing they were ever in the game at all. It seemed like Iowa was up 8 practically the whole game. OU got within 3 with 7 minutes left, and within 5 with 37 seconds.

We played good defense, and were right there in rebounds with a much bigger Iowa until the last 2 or 3 minutes when we had to spread the floor and go for traps, but offensively, OU just has no inside game at this point. Leah catches fire in little spurts, but she has not yet found that place where she was last year. Beky Preston is much improved in her offensive moves, but the ball just doesn't go in for her. Same for....well, for just about all the post players. And it seems when you start missing "chippies", then the perimeter shots don't fall, either.

A lot can happen between now and January, but right now I'd say the Press and the Coaches were pretty accurate in their pre-season picks.

Perhaps another issue is what has been discussed in the last week or so and that is Sherri has so much depth, she needs to find her rotation to develop team chemistry. I think this game may demonstrate that since shooting is moreso affected by team chemistry. We will see. At least they have something to work on!

Also, Soonerman or SW, what else did Sherri have to add? I had to leave with about a minute left in the game and was reasonably, er, OK, totally assured I wouldn't miss a big comeback ;) , but I'm sorry I missed the post game.

I can't believe Iowa is 2-0 against the Big 12. I wasn't surprised that they beat Mizzou, but OU too. I am a little nervous, but confident that ISU will go to Iowa and come away from a victory. My nervousness is that with these wins Iowa will actually have fans at the game on Wed. ISU is doing a bus trip and will probably fill 3 or 4 buses.

vickie.......she was not happy with their offensive production. If I recall, she was pretty satisfied that they had played good defense and rebounding was solid, though they got out-rebounded. She also mentioned that when you are not hitting shots, you need to be making the *key* plays. Iowa was, OU was not.

They played in a Thanksgiving tournament back in 2000...
got beat by Georgia the first game, then played horribly against Wisconsin. Everyone shot poorly except for Jamie Talbert; it was free throws that kept them in that game...though they still lost 97-77.

And that didn't turn out to be such a bad year :)

Yeh, I remember that tourney. I think it was in Milwaukee, as I recall. I don't get to excited about early losses especially if they are to a decent or good team. Do you know when her weekly TV show will be airing?

I haven't heard when her shows start, but will let you know if I hear.

They play the next two Thursday's so I'm not even sure when her radio show will start up.
