A couple of notes: SEC rivals Tennessee, LSU and Georgia stood 1-2-3 in the poll on Monday, just the second time a league filled the leading three spots. Auburn, Tennessee and Mississippi of the SEC held the top three places the week of Jan. 9, 1989. The AP poll started in 1976.

UConn, winner of the last three national championships, hasn't been this low in the rankings since it was ninth the week of Feb. 1, 1994. That was the season before the Huskies won the first of their five NCAA titles.

SEC 123. Can't really argue it. Especially since we lost our shot at GA and Baylor lost their attempt against LSU. I would probably say based on initial impressions, I would put it like this:

1. LSU
2. Georgia
3. Tennessee
4. Notre Dame
5. North Carolina
6. Texas
7. UConn
8. Stanford/Baylor

It's early, though. ;)

Ouch. Baylor loses to #2 LSU by 1 point on a neutral court and falls from 8 to 12. Texas loses to #3 Georgia and falls 1 spot. ?????

Ohio St loses to #6 Notre Dame and falls 1 spot.

Da Bears were dumped on by the coaches or whoever it is that actually votes in that poll.

It will all sort out with more games but just a weird result this week.

Looks like Baylor would have held their position in the coaches poll IMO. I guess it really doesn't matter, but it is disappointing as a fan. :(

Perhaps more fuel for KMR ;)

UConn's fall just really threw things off. Stanford also rose based on the their Utah win.

Baylor will get their dues if they continue to play the solid basketball we saw in the 2nd half against LSU.

And always remember.............it's not where you start that counts..

it's where you finish ;) I don't think it was anything Baylor did...I just think it was the "shakeup" with the teams that lost.

Given Notre Dame's showing in the WNIT and it's current ranking, I'm feeling better about how my young Huskers played against them early in the season. If Kiera's shot had been falling, LaToya had played, and Jelena had been 100% who knows what might have been . . . Maybe the Huskers would even be getting some votes?
