I think you will need to register to read it, but the article is pretty short, so I'll just post it.

KU women get two pledges

The Kansas City Star

Bonnie Henrickson has said she'll go anywhere to bring the best players to Kansas. She appears to be doing just that.

The Star has learned two top recruits — Sophronia Sallard of Syracuse, N.Y., and Shaquina Mosley of Lancaster, Calif. — have given oral commitments to attend KU next fall.

Sallard, a high school senior, is a 5-foot-10 small forward who is a fifth-team All-America selection by Street and Smith's. She picked Kansas over Kentucky and Virginia.

Mosley, a sophomore at Central Arizona College, was expected to be one of the top junior-college point guards. She had drawn interest from LSU and Louisiana Tech but selected KU after making her only visit.

Oral commitments are non-binding.

Henrickson, in her first season at Kansas, will coach in her first game when Kansas plays host to Fort Hays State in an exhibition Tuesday at Allen Fieldhouse.

She also picked up another player.

Serbian guard to join KU women

By JASON KING The Kansas City Star

LAWRENCE — Her first win at Kansas has yet to come, but Jayhawks women's basketball coach Bonnie Henrickson continues to score victories on the recruiting trail.

Ivana Catic, a Serbian point guard, made an oral commitment to sign with the Jayhawks during a phone conversation Friday morning with Henrickson. Catic, who also visited Colorado and Richmond, said she was hardly turned off by the fact KU has struggled in recent years.

If anything, she said she was swayed by Henrickson's optimism and vision.

“I'm very familiar with the past situation, but I know they've got a lot of great people there now and a lot of resources and a great staff,” Catic said by phone Friday. “They told me they wanted to do something big at Kansas — and I think we can.”

Although she's a native of Serbia, Catic spent her senior season of high school at Mount de Chantal in Wheeling, W.Va. Her coach, John Rowan, said Catic is like “a second coach on the court.”

“She sees openings before they ever happen,” Rowan said. “Part of that is because she has such a thorough knowledge — a thorough understanding — of the game. She makes everyone around her better.”

Catic is the fourth player to commit to KU since Henrickson's arrival — and the third this week.

Sophronia Sallard, a small forward from Syracuse, N.Y., made an oral pledge Thursday along with Central Arizona College point guard Shaquina Mosley. Jen Orgas, a forward from Omaha, committed during the summer.

Of the four, Sallard easily has the highest profile. Blue Star, a publication that covers high school recruiting, ranks Sallard as the 25th-best prospect in America. She chose KU over Virginia and Kentucky.

There's still a chance Henrickson could add one more player before the Nov. 10 signing date. Otherwise, expect Henrickson to comb the junior-college ranks during the spring in search of post players.

It is great to see another Big 12 program on the way up!

Lieberman said about OU in her list of the top 20 that even 4th or 5th in the Big 12 wasn't too shabby (or something real close to that). In very short order, they will have to say that “even 8th/9th/or 10th in the Big 12 isn’t shabby at all!
