Okay Hoopscoopers, I've transitioned from Sana'a, Yemen, to Cairo, Egypt. The move is made with some regret. I actually left Yemen in July 2003. That gave me the opportunity to see the 2003/04 Baylor basketball season in full...the first time that has happened in over 12 years. In addition to all home games played at the Ferrell Center on the Baylor campus (men's and ladies' games), I made road trips to College Station, Austin, Columbia, Ames, Manhattan, Norman, Dallas, Albuquerque, and again to Norman for a very frustrating ending a great season by the Lady Bears. Another plus was the opportunity to meet some of you up close and personally.
Now as the 2004/05 season approaches, I will be forced to go back to internet broadcasts at terrible hours (Egypt will be 8 hours ahead of CST when the season rolls around). So although I'm back among the gainfully employed (re-establishing a pay check is nice), I'll be doing it at some distance with painful sacrifice. My season tickets once again will be confiscated by family members instead of providing me with great entertainment. And I have such high expectations for the Lady Bears this season.
Although I'll keep the moniker Yemen Bear, I'm working to make Egypt home. If your vacation plans ever bring you to this area of the world, drop me a line. I'll do what I can to help make your vacation more memorable.
