Baylor ended the 39 game losing streak against the Lady Raiders with a score of 85 to 69!!!!!!! YES!!!! Fun Game. Danielle had 31 points to lead the charge!
Amber Tarr was incredible from 3 point land. She just was on fire and Cisti Greenwalt would be my go to player on that team if I were the coach. She has tremendous potential!!!
Tech jumped out to a 13 point lead right at the start of the game but it was only a 1 point game at the half. Baylor came out strong in the first 5 minutes and never let up.
THE BIG 12 NEEDS TO SERIOUSLY CONSIDER SOME NEW OFFICIALS!!!
THEY REALLY STINK UP THE PLACE. GREENWALT FOULED OUT WITH A REALLY LAME CALL. TYPICAL CALLS MADE BY THE WRONG OFFICIAL THAT WAS WAY OUT OF POSITION. ANTICIPATION CALLS...AND YES, THE X-RAY VISION CALLS WERE RAMPANT....ETC.!!!!

Congrats to Baylor for getting that monkey off their back. Great second half by Crockrum et al. Good job by Tarr in the first half in her last appearance in Waco, but just not enough. Glad Cisti had a good game. Just wish Tech's defense could have been more effective.

Well, it was 40 games. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif Like someone said on RP.com, I would take 40 wins and 1 loss anytime. Sounds like BU's AA's had awesome games and Crockrum was unstoppable. Tech needs to cut down on the unforced turnovers though they had WAAAAAAAAAAAY to many for a good fundamentally sound team. Our defense was great in the first half, but in the second half allowed way to many easy baskets. Cisti had another break out game, but if only we could have gotten Jolee to have another good game I think we win, but she didn't and we didn't. Oh well, these girls will learn from what happened today and we have to look forward to OSU. Go Lady Raiders!!

39 game losing streak went back to March 11, 1983 in the SWC Tournament. Let's don't make it worse than it was. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif

They kept saying 40 on the radio...do your numbers include the on where Baylor didn't want to play Tech in 1989? http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/wink.gif

Just wish Tech's defense could have been more effective.
Isn't that the truth. Against UT was the first time, this year, I've seen them play the kind of really scrappy defense that was the norm two years ago. I loved watching the D of Keitha et al. Ugly games? Wonderfully ugly. Few things prettier than watching another team's frustration build as they miss shots over and over. Wish we could get that attitude back.
This year's Lady Raiders seem to have difficulty sustaining their emotional intensity for long. In this league that makes it hard to string together W's. Consistent full throttle effort has been a hallmark of Tech teams past.

Congratulations to Baylor for breaking that string. Seems like Tech had a losing string of that sort to some other team in Texas at one time. Not a fountain of fond memories.

Raiderpower, you know how those radio announcers like to inflat everything. Looks like you did very well today with Tarr and Welle on your team.
I really had a fear of Jolee Ayers coming in today and putting the "quietious" on us. It would have been a different game if she and Perkins were on their A game.

I was so happy to see Danielle finally have a dominating game this year. She has played well, but has never put it all together in one game yet this year. Of course, every team has keyed on her all year with double teams and very aggressive defense. But until today she hasn't completely taken over a game.
I guess a 14-15 shooting day is the way to break out.
Tarr was ridiculous from outside, but the big difference was that Kim was able to go to three guards, put Lambert on Tarr instead of Fox, and keep her from getting any good shots for most of the middle 20 minutes. Tech on the other hand couldn't find any way to stop Danielle.
This was such a huge win for Baylor. We definitely had a mental monkey on our back concerning Tech. But as Grant Teaff said when we won a football game in Austin for the first time in 38 years, "It's over, Baby. It's Over!!!"

It started out as the Amber Tarr show and ended as the Daniel Crockrom show...geez I'm glad she's a senior. According to Ryan Hyatt no one could have stopped her today once she got fire. Course Lambert did her part and Collins had 10 assists...not to mention continued impressive play from Blackmon.
It seems like Tech can't get firing on all cylinders. Tarr finds her range again and Jolee is off. So glad to see Cisti have a great game...19 pts.
Again the losing team wins the battle of the boards...its amazing how many times this year that's happened in this league.
I thought it was strange that Simmons wasn't put in to sub for White.
Congrats Baylor!

Great win for Baylor today. Crockrum was absolutely on fire in the second half and everything she threw up went in. It was just one of those days for her and she certainly worked hard for it and she was impressive. Lambert continued to do her thing and catch Tech on their heels more than once.
The LR's were hot the first 12 min. in the first half, then they got that look in their face, like at the CU game, where Jia wanted to shake and bake and that didn't work, then they put Ritchie in and the she couldn't get open and couldn't get anything to fall. Sharp put Jackson in, oops, too short, sat her down. Jolee could get the defense off her long enough to move across the lane and poor Ellison, just never even acted like she was considering taking the ball to the hoop and there you have it! Thank goodness for Cisti, she was impressive today! I think she grew up a lot and handled Baylor's tough defense better than anyone else. I think she finally got mad enough to start playing a little tougher.
Zo, I'm glad you brought up the refs, because I don't like ***** about them, but they were ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!!! I know 3 of Cisti's fouls were off the ball fouls and that last one, I still don't know how they called it on her? It looked like to me that Blackmon ran into her and they called it a "kneeing" foul on Cisti. Marsha was so frustrated from the very beginning and righly worked them all game long. I know they missed calls on both ends, but for a while, we couldn't get one called on our end to save our soul. Zo's right, the wrong official called way too many fouls. I knew we were in trouble when I saw that the little short lady with fuzzy hair was in there. I don't like her calls at all even when Tech isn't playing.
Anyway, it was a tough loss, we needed the win, but what else is new this year? http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/wink.gif

Yes, Zo3157, it is those X-ray vision calls by officials that drive me crazy. It's like they think there's no way a player could have made good defensive play so it must be a foul even if they can't see exactly what happened. I don't know why they don't let the official in position to see the play make the call.

Baylor simply dominated in the second half. I think they shot 80% from the floor in the second period. That is tough to beat. Tech couldn't defend Crockrum to save their lives. They tried to double her but they were usually to slow getting there or she simply split the double team and scored anyway. She hit some amazing shots.
I thought Ayers played pretty well for Tech, and of course Tarr was the only reason the Lady Raiders were in the game in the first half. Jia had a tough night on offense but did a pretty decent job on Lambert.
Baylor was a better team on Saturday, that's the bottom line. Tech didn't play a bad game, Baylor was just on fire in the second half. I am looking forward to UT-BU next weekend...

I stopped in and watched the game in Waco on my way to Austin. Baylor looked awesome the second half. Crockrom was unstoppable. I have so far been to 10 games this year and I agree the officiating has been pretty brutal in all games. Very disappointing.

Wow, the 39 game streak is finally over! Thanks for the nice comments. BU is now one step closer to hosting the NCAA's. One tough home game out of the way, but two more toughies at the FC to go with UT and CU.
The officiating was absolutely horrendous in the first 10 minutes or so. One of the reasons the Lady Bears had so many turnovers the first few minutes is because they were all but getting raped by Tech, without a whistle blowing. On the other end, we were getting called for touch fouls. Very frustrating. There was no consistency by the refs the whole game on either end, no matter the team. Let them play physical for a few minutes, then call a hand check? Well they were consistent in one aspect: consistently BAD! http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif
By the way, anyone there know why Marsha was pitching a fit about the towel kids behind the baskets? This was AFTER two made Tech free throws.

The Tech radio announcers said the ball girls were standing in front of the goal standard (where the padding goes), which is a dangerous place for them to be, and they were banging those yellow clapper stick thingamajigs while a Tech player was trying to shoot free throws. The radio announcer thought to stand right under the goal and do that was not too cool.

I've noticed at the last few games I've been to or watched that the officials are letting them play for the most part at least the first 10 minutes or so of the first half......then they seem to bear down in the 2nd half and make up for it....with the hand-checking fouls....

She was pitching a fit because the towel kids were making the base of the goal shake when Cisti was shooting ft's. I was sitting right behind the goal and saw what they were doing. They were quickly told to move.

The girls were standing in front of the padding on the base of the goal and waving towels to distract the shooter. The refs should not have let them stand there. They were caught up in the excitement IMO. I did not realize they were shaking the base of goal however, it did not appear to be shaking. Coach Sharp had a legitimate complaint even though the free throws were made. The kids should not have been in front of the base the way they were.

Of the dozen or so games I've attended this year I can think of one time I didn't walk away shaking my head at the rotten officiating. Win or lose. It's a sad situation. I saw calls in the Mizzou-Kansas game that were just hilariously bad.

Good Lord folks, will this incessant complaining about officials ever cease. The one constant is they appear bad enough to not effect the outcome of the game, in most cases.
If we think complaining on this board will make the Big 12 significantly improve them, you are wrong. Basketball is hard to officiate period. Call all the chances and we all gripe, try to get the obvious ones, everbody else gripes.
If they keep screwing up equally, that is the best we can achieve. Back in the day of coaching, you had to help the ladies understand and be aware of the "style" of the day. Physical ok or hand-check no. Adjust and play.
Pick a sport, it's all the same. Let's talk Basketball, not Zebra's!!!!!!!!!!!!

To a degree I agree, BUT if they are not consistant you can not adjust to the ""style" of the day" because there is no coherent "style" to adjust to.

I was sitting literally a few feet from that basket, and they were not shaking the goal. LOL Good grief. The Tech player wouldn't have even shot the ball and the refs would've intervened if that happened. Towel-waving I'll buy. They shouldn't have been doing that, so I'm glad something was said. We're talking 7, 8 year-old kids here, and I'm sure they did get caught up in the moment as someone earlier mentioned. Regardless, Tech made both free throws.
