Today was a great day. Not only did the ISU FB team post an exciting victory, but before the game the women's and men's bball teams were on hand to sign autographs. Myself and mom (ISUbballfan for those here on hoopscoop) got in line. The girls were on time and signing while the men's team arrived 10 mins. late but in time for when we got in line. Interesting note is that there was a generic paper for the men's team, but the girl's team and a nice customized posterboard for fans. I would hand my paper for the men to sign and thanked them after each one. Then I got to the best part. Megan was first to sign then came the three newcomers Lisa Bildeaux, Tegan Stuart, and Sierra Dawson. This was my first opportunity to meet them so that was good. Then came some of the senior class. Mary Fox signed her name and recognized me from the games as I wear my Mary #11 jersey to every game. Next was Annie O. who is always fun to meet. Next was Lyndsey Medders who I share a class with and she brought that up while signing. In that class we had a test so we conversed about that, and she said to say hi in class which made me feel good because you never know how athletes like be approached off the court. I left out some others players that were there but I think you get the point. We here at hoopscoop are truly blessed as wbb fans especially here in the big 12. Some men's players can talkative and nice but with the women's players they truly care and love their fans. I sure all of you have had similar experiences such as the ones I told above. I just got to thinking about how awesome that is and wanted to share my story.

BBall Season can't start soon enough for me!

Nice post Cyclones Rule.

The Lady Raiders appear at various other Tech sports events and sign autographs.

The men's team, uh, they don't.

Loved your post. I always am aware as I watch the women that they are, 99% and from all appearances, pretty well rounded as students and people.

Thanks for your great post about the Cyclone women. I'm sure most of you have stories of the classy manner in which our WBB teams represent themselves and their universities. Here is one that meant a great deal to my mom and dad.

My parents live in the Ames area, and some years ago, I got them season tickets for WBB. They've been big fans ever since, and they always enjoy telling stories about conversations with players they run into at the airport, grocery store, etc. But recently, they were eating at an Ames restaurant and were seated next to Mary Fox, Anne O'Neill, and Lyndsey Medders. On their way out, my parents stopped at the players' table to say they are getting ready to retire to Las Vegas but have enjoyed following the team over the years. My mother said she was very brief, because she didn't want to be (too) disruptive...but that the three players were exceptionally gracious, asking a lot of questions about my parents' retirement plans, etc. and talking about their own parents and families. They reminded my parents that the Cyclone women will be playing a holiday tournament in Vegas and asked that my parents be sure to say hello to them there.

On the topic of the Vegas holiday tournament, is anyone planning to travel out here? ISU and Texas Tech are on the schedule! Hope to see some Big XII fans in attendance.

My wife and I have talked about it a bit, but not too seriously yet. I'd say there's a small chance we might go.

CyRox and I are going out for the tourney in Vegas. All the teams are staying at the New York, New York casino (and so are we). It should be an awesome time. Tech and ISU are in seperate brackets, but both teams should be favored to win.

I can't even begin to count the number of great moments I've had over the years involving the ISU women's team. They are such outstanding representatives of our school and I am always impressed at the emphasis they place on being available to their fans. A lot of men's teams (including ISU) can learn from that.
