XM has added six channels of live college sports broadcasting: 3 each for the Pac 10 and the ACC. They plan to broadcast football, MBB, and WBB games live. If they add Big XII in the future, this is a great way for people who don't live near their favorite team to listen to the games in the car or at home without a computer.

Any other satellite radio listeners out there? I've had XM since December and I love it.

Yes, I've been an owner just about the same amount of time. I got tired of the local sports radio station broadcasting their juvenile 8th grade humor morning show so I got satellite radio just so I could hear ESPN radio in the morning. The Mike and Mike show in the morning is just about the best show I've ever heard. Love it.

Frankly though - Oklahoma City has better pop and alternative music as times than satellite does. Guess I haven't find the right station yet to suit my taste.

At the risk of making this thread be less and less about Big XII WBB...

One reason I love XM (and chose XM over Sirius) is because, unlike Sirius, XM has a Christian rock station. I live between Milwaukee and Chicago and can get three CCM radio stations, but none play anything even approaching rock.

I also was a big fan of Special X (an XM channel that played anything and everything--polka, surf music, William Shater songs, etc) but it was taken off the air earlier this year.

What artists do you like to listen to?

mred, I hope this announcement doesn't discourage you about XM, but SIRIUS today announced the launch of SIRIUS College Sports Radio.

Well, I guess I'm kind of jealous that Sirius has some Big 12 schools and XM doesn't. But this is brand new stuff. Coverage will only increase as time goes on. But it looks like we'll have to maybe wait one more season before we have coverage of all the Big 12.

I wonder why Sirius calls themself the Official Satellite Radio Partner of .....? XMradio and Sirius already overlap coverage on a couple of Pac-10 schools so Sirius couldn't be the sole provider. Sounds like its just a bit of hype that doesn't mean much.

Even though XMradio has 4 times the customers - Sirius is doing a good job of making themself a serious player in this market.

I find it strange that Sirius is trying to go directly to the schools on this. XM is going to the conferences, which is a whole lot easier to get comprehensive coverage.

Really, this means nothing so far. I want to see how the two companies do this in practice, not just in theory. The best part is that the two companies are pushing each other to provide more bang for the customers' bucks.
