I know their is a lot of disrepect between TT and UT. I have witnessed and traveled a great deal watching these two teams play, recounting the SWC glory days by UT and their rise and fall from the elite programs in the nation. I do think however, that these NASTY posts must stop and one must realize how these types of remarks can really hurt someone. Our we that clueless what we may be doing to some of these young players? Let's face it.....TT and UT are both struggling this year for a variety of reasons, but GET OVER IT !!! It is time to move on. Quit bashing each school's coach(s), players and the like. Some of these remarks on Hoopscoop are disgusting by both sides. Do any of you posters have real jobs or do you get enjoyment out of ripping each other apart?

I'd like to add that IMO there is a quiet majority of both UT and Tech fans that DO respect the others program, who share a sense of committment to the Big 12 and women's basketball in general. I'd be proud to have us become the loud majority and for the most part on this board I think we are. A couple of nasty comments overshadows the conversational, respectfull comments that make up the bulk of what is posted by both UT and TT fans.
We should all remember that these girls are giving their college days to playing hard for our entertainment and that they are only kids.
Thank you again hoopscoop for giving us a place to come together.

And what is more likely is that players' family members are reading these posts instead of, or in addition to, the players!

Exactly!!! Let's appreciate one another. I'll play the broken record for you again:

"We all represent THE state for Girls' and Women's Basketball."

How many other states have ONE Div I women's program whose roster is made up amost exclusively of players from that state, and are ranked among the best in the nation? Here we are with at least THREE programs of that sort and the only thing we can do is trash one another? Granted, we are the biggest state for all practical purposes and probably SHOULD have the most talent. But it is still a fact. Let's be appreciative of that!

I beg to differ. My words on a post are not going to seriously injury a player...especially one with an attitude like Miss Larkin.

On the other hand...certain players (Kenya Larkin to name one) can and will someday seriously injury other players when they play DIRTY and TOO physical. These girls aren't playing street ball here. This is collegiate ball...show some class and sportsmanship...damn! I saw some very poor play last night, therefore I said what was on my mind. If I think a player's dirty, I'm not gonna have this "brotherly-sisterly love and respect" BS attitude you're trying to get me to display. Why would I show respect for a team or a player who does not deserve it. I respect every team in this leage, except one. Is there a reason why? Yes. It's not about schools. It's not about fans. It's about the players. If you want to avoid reading posts such as mine, get a new coach who will recruit players with class...one who will teach sportsmanship and basketball fundamentals. Some of these players are a disgrace and I would be ashamed to be the coach who let them play.

Sorry Kenya...this ain't the WWF! Maybe you should rethink your future.

Swoopes---

Chill it out baby----I have seen Kenya play at least 100 games, all on the opposing team, since she was 11. I have yet to see her hurt anyone, intentionally,in some evil way. This game is over. I assume your team won since you are a "Swoopeite".

Having not seen the play, I can bet it was a bit of frustration and that she was unable to stop the shot in a "unintentional" intentional foul and was hoping for the best. You will never make me believe she was trying to injure Jia.

Let's move on.

NO, NO, NO...I've seen her take cheap shots at players while I've been court-side. She is a dirty player, period. Did you not see her last year, knowing that Katrissa's knee was injured, constantly go for her knee. She tried to initiate contact with Kat's knee every chance she got. She has a bad attitude and has to be the better player. She can't stand it when players like Kat and Jia school her. It's that simple. Kenya is no angel! Don't try to make her cheap shots and fouls sound innocent when she knows exactly what she's doing.

Okay, let me -- the one who PROACTIVELY suggested a peaceful attitude amongst us all -- say this:

YOU ARE AN IDIOT WHO OBVIOUSLY DOESN'T KNOW YOUR HIND END FROM A HOLE IN THE GROUND WHEN IN COMES TO PLAYING THE GAME OF BASKETBALL!!!

The VAST majority of us can be good sports about everything. You, on the other hand (while complaining about poor sportsmanship), portray the LOWEST form of poor sportsmanship - - the SORE WINNER!

You are classless, and I'm sure my favorite female basketball player in the world would not appreciate your using her name while being such JERK!

I was at the game last night, and I might share some objective comments, since I am from New Mexico and am not attuned to the intense hostility that some Lady Raider fans have toward UT and Coach Conradt. Last night, I saw two teams play very hard nose defense, but it appears the players on both teams respect each other. On several occasions, I saw players help other players off the floor. Heather Schreiber, in particular, is a great competitor, but a class act! Larkin's foul on Perkins while hard, and probably not intelligent, did not appear to be done to hurt Jia. Also, you can tell that Coach Sharp and Coach Conradt respect each other, they appeared to have a very amiable pre-game chat. Face it, this rivalry has benefitted both programs. UT's national championship turned out to be a shot in the arm for both programs and coupled with TT's championship has only served to elevate interest and level of play throughout Texas and the Southwest. We may not like each other, but we need each other!

Very well put ZiaRaider. Coach Sharp and Coach Conradt always seem to enjoy their pre-game conversations. These coaches respect each other. Sharp knows that Conradt will always devise a good game plan for Tech. They have worked together many times on committees during off-seasons and socialize with each other as well as many other coaches during scouting trips to amateur tournaments. They compete with each other, but there is no animosity between them.

In the old days, Coach Conradt sometimes seemed a little arrogant. They completely dominated the SWC for many years without losing a game. Who wouldn't get a little arrogant after a few years under those circumstances? In recent years, she hasn't struck me that way. I have heard her compliment a variety of the coaches in the Big 12 and out. Moreover, she has used her pulpit as one of the all-time winningest coaches to forcefully assert the general toughness of the Big 12. I appreciate that effort.

UT has a lot of young talent and a good recruiting class. They're not going anywhere but up the next couple of years. Fans of both teams might as well anticipate some more fierce battles like the one last night. The intensity of these games gets teams ready for NCAA play....I hope.

OK, I need to tell all of you something. First of all I am a player for UT, and second of all, if anyone shows poor sportmanship it is the people who post on this site.
Both teams went out and played lost night with a lot of intensity and both teams played hard defense. Their were bad calls both ways and all in all Texas Tech won. But I am dissappointed in the fans that write on this website. All you do is gossip and make things that happened in the game bigger than what happened. In the game Kenya went up and tried to keep Kia from scoring, she did not have any intenetions of hurting Jia. And i know for a fact that Kenya respects Jia and enjoys the competition of playing her. It was called intentional according to the ref, because Kenya hit Jia's head. As for whoever brought up last year, it is part of the game that people hit each other and run into each others knees etc. I know Kenya and know that she never has any intention of hurting other players, not does she have a bad attitude. She is very competitive and plays with all her heart in every game. So please can we all grow up and not call others bad sports...
as the good book says, "let he who is without sin throw the first stone"

As for those of you who support your teams and accept a loss like a grown adult, thank you and I am sure that I speak for all teams and team members that you support is greatly appreciated.

UTPlayer,

Thanks for joining in. You and your teammates should keep your chins up. You're playing in a great conference. Several teams have gone through a stretch like the one your team has been in the last couple of weeks. Like the other teams, you will work your way out of it with the kind of scrappy play each of you displayed last night.

I have every confidence, that you and your teammates will represent the conference well in the Big Dance. Good Luck!

UT Player - Thank you for your hard work, dedication and focus. Thank your team mates and coaches as well. A huge majority of the fans are supportive, well mannered, adults who are with you all the way. The kids love you too : )
We're rooting for you the rest of the regular season, into the post season, and we'll still be here next season.
Keep giving it your all.
I promise that the majority of the Big 12 fan base acts in a way you can be proud of.
