According to the Ames Tribune, Junod could play against Colorado on Saturday, but she'll likely wait until the Feb 17 game @ OSU. ISU has 8 days off between the two games, so it would make sense for her to take that extra time off.

I suspect that if ISU needs a bit of a lift against Colorado, Junod could see 10 minutes or so Saturday. Otherwise, I doubt she'll play until OSU.

What exactly did she injure and what type of surgery did she have. I had heard early it was an ACL. Isn't anyone there concerned if it was that his rehab is just a bit quick. Cunningham hurt hers in Jan, 2001 and reinjured it in Sept. 2002 allegedly after a full and successful rehab. Junod's time for rehab, if a full ACL, seems alot quicker. By the way, what type of injury did she have her true freshman year, if any, when she was red-shirted?

I've thought it seems awfully soon to have her back, if indeed she did tear her ACL.

I believe she had mono her freshman year which led to the redshirt.

I did some quick reading on ACL injuries, and I read that using an accelerated rehab schedule you can be back to full activity in 3-6 months. Junod will return pretty much exactly 3 months after her surgery. Junod was complaining that she will have to play with a brace on her knee, so it's not as if she'll be playing unprotected. I guess she's just had a great comeback from the injury. Different people heal at different rates. I'm not saying there is no risk here, but ISU has had the positiion all season that Junod would not return. Nobody expected her to return. Coach Fennelly said she won't return until she gets clearance from her doctor to play. The only person who said early on that Junod would play this season was Junod herself, and she's been working hard at rehab to make it so.

I'm not going to pretend that ISU fans weren't hoping she'd be back this season, and I also won't pretend that I'm not worried about her knee. Ultimately it's Junod's decision to play if she has clearance from her doctor and ISU's trainer, and she does. If Fennelly doesn't play her too much and if she realizes her own limitations, I don't see it being a big problem, as she's already practicing and she won't do anything to her knee in a game that couldn't happen in practice.

I don't know anything too specific about her injury, but it was called a torn ACL.

Junod indeed redshirted due to mono her first year, so that is not a factor.
