Some impressions so far....
>ESPN Full Court is worth the money. They broadcast, you decide.
>I haven't seen all the games of course but a few players who got my attention:
Brooklyn Lorenzen from Montana is a heck of a point guard. La Tech leads the nation in steals but Lorenzen was excellent in taking care of the ball. Her passes were perfection as far as getting it into the shooters hands in the best place for them to get a good shot. That is probably why she had over 240 assists and less than 60 turnovers this season. Incredible 4 to 1 assist to turnover ratio. I don't care if you play against dogs, that is impressive.
Nikki Blue and Noelle Quinn got my attention. I watched a bit of the Pac10 tournament and came away with greater respect for that conference. One can throw out numbers all day long that say those teams aren't any good, but I saw them play some terrific basketball.
Lindsey Whalen. Wow! She is quite a talent. I can understand why Minnesota tanked with her on the sideline. KSU is going to have to play much better to beat Lindsey, and that is really what it will be. How come Amy Dutmer cans a zillion threes with a blindfold on against Tech but can't get one to fall against Valparaiso?
You have to admit that Nicole Powell is a great player. She does some terrific things for her size.
Speaking of terrific. Nicole Ohlde is just that. An impressive ability to handle to ball to go with rest of the package. Give me Ohlde, Powell, Whalen, Lorenzen and Blue, I'll win a few games, even if three/four, uh, five, of them are "point guards". http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif
>Ever notice how much better coaches get when they have better talent on the team?
>ESPN wanted sooo bad for the Duke game to be competitive so they could show more of it. Kudos to them for staying with the other games which were competitive and fun to watch. In the not so distant past, before the cameras were at each game we would have been treated to the Duke/whoever blowout to be followed by the Connecticut/whoever blowout which came a day after the viewing of the Tennessee/whoever blowout mixed in with poker, ping pong, bowling and billiards.
