should Tennessee lose the game, they would still be ranked number 2, due to their SOS, but a chink in the armor would be showing.

While incredibly athletic, UT still appears to me as a team that isn't quite jelled as a team. There are several other opportunities for the Vols to lose again after tonight - IF they lose. But in the eyes and minds of the pollsters, they might seem a bit vulnerable if they lose.

One outcome or another, it has been a very good game so far.

Vandy's backcourt is playing better than I have previously thought them capable of playing, which only goes to show that I can't evaluate players quite as well as I would like.

Despite how well she did, Anderson was not the reason Vandy handled ISU in the tournament last season. ISU had to lay off her when the Vandy backcourt started hitting their shots. The guards won that game for them.

Vandy is leading by 12 with 3:58 to play.

Chantelle Anderson has absolutely killed the Vols in the second half, with a little assistance from Zusi Klimesova.

Score is 65-53.

Vols about to suffer second loss, down by 12 (71-59) with 1:03 remaining.

Tennessee flat-out got outplayed tonight.

[Right now I'm listening to the 69-55 game on the radio...]

Jim Foster, ex-marine and Viet Nam vet, just won his first game as head coach of the Vanderbilt women's basketball team against Tennessee on his 17th try. Foster was 0-16 against the in-state rival Vols.

Hey hawkeye,

Pat's face is an ouch under most any circumstance, but don't tell her that I said that.

That's the first "regular" season win for Foster against Tenn. Vandy beat Tennessee in the SEC tourney last year!

You're right Bball Girl! I took that quote from the TV broadcast, but remember that same thing. Where the heck has broadcast journalism gone? It seems like you can't trust anyone to give you accurate information anymore!

There is an interesting Jim Foster bio at http://www.vucommodores.com/womenhoop/whoopcoaches.html

Jim Foster is a terrific coach...there's a bunch of Head Coaches out there that got their start with Jim Foster including Geno, McGraw and our own Patterson and Ethridge. I've worked at 2 SEC schools (Arkansas and Mississippi) and have seen Vandy always win and play with class!

This win certainly doesn't hurt Tech's SOS!...course Vandy and Tenn will play again in Knoxville.

Great job, Vandy........I think Tennessee slips a notch in the polls, so does that put Stanford at the 2 spot?

I think the Vols stay at #2 - their strength of schedule is by far the best in the NCAA, and the Vandy loss was a quality one on the road.

Nope, no way Stanford gets by the Vols - there isn't any reason to support such an outcome, IMO.

ycn........pollsters tend not to remember last week, nor do I think they keep up with SOS.

I still think Stanford and Tennessee switch places in the polls.
Look what happened to OU when they lost to Iowa State "on the road". They went from #2 to #4.

We'll see vickie. I still stand by my post, but nothing regarding human polls surprises me - especially considering that Rick Majerus was banned from the coaches poll for letting his assistant vote for Temple!

Well, one reason YCN may be right is that Tennessee already beat Stanford at Stanford this year. So, if pollsters actually remember that, it may be enough to keep Tennessee at #2.
