Wow. For a game that was close for 3 quarters, Tech really blew it open at the end.

Tech had a 10 point lead with 10 min. left. It became close, but A&M never really threatened. They tied it with 15 min. left but Tech went on a run. Good balanced game from Texas Tech. Here are some early numbers:

Jolee Ayers: 22 points
Jia Perkins: 20 something
Amber Tarr: 17 points
Cisti Greenwalt: 7 points 8 rebounds
Candi White: 9 assists 3 TO

Good game by the Ladies who didn't let A&M's little runs and press get to them. Go Lady Raiders!!

With about 12 minutes left, it was a 3 point game. I didn't know when Tech made their run, because I was just getting the typical 4-minute updates on yahoo sports.

No, I wasn't trying to question you on the closeness, but the 3 quarters thing got me confused. I just figured out now that you meant 3/4 of the game. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif

TAMU kept it close and Tech wasn't hitting much in the first 8 or so minutes of the 2nd half. But then Ayers and Tarr and Perkins started finding their range again. Ayers hung in there with 4 fouls. Balanced scoring again...

Reville...the TAMU collie mascot who is alway primed and has been known to bark at key moments or try to nip one of the players didn't appear to be a factor in the game...but Coach Sharp always has a story about playing at A&M so we'll look forward to the latest saga...

Glad to get out of there with a confidence building win going into a game with a tough Colorado team at home this weekend.

Oh yes...we had our inadvertant whistle/horn to stop play just when Tech had a breakaway...but didn't affect the game, just woke everyone up.

I sometimes refer to the college game in quarters, since it divides so nicely and every other level of basketball uses them instead of just two halves.

I recommend everyone try it. It makes you cool. Trust me. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif

This team has me so skidish this year, I was a little afraid A&M would have one of those ISU-type games and we'd be flat. It sounds like Sharp challenged the post players in practice after KSU and Jolee and Cisti did some damage. It's good to see Cisti get back in there and have a good game.

Next up, CU on Sun. Gawwwd, another tough game! Do they ever end?

GO TECH!

I think Jolee only missed one from the field and besides her pts, Jia had 6 rebounds, 3 steals and 4 assists.

Of course, I trust you!

But you know that coachspeak thing where they always talk about the first five minutes and last five minutes of a half. Maybe we should think in eighths or even sixths: 5-10-5--5-10-5. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/confused.gif

okay...that's silly...I'll go with quarters. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif

The game was close for a long time, but I believed Tech would pull away eventually. I just tried to put the ISU game out of my mind and concentrate on the CU game where the Aggies were close late (lost by 18) and the OU game where they were close at the half (blown out in 2nd). Had to hope they would wear down at the end.
