Coming off their upset loss at New Mexico last night, Marsha Sharp has suspended junior forward Plenette Pierson indefinitely - no word on why.

Here's the Texas Tech release:

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech head women's basketball coach Marsha Sharp has indefinitely suspended junior forward Plenette Pierson effective immediately following the Lady Raiders' loss at New Mexico Friday night.

"Sometimes you have to make decisions that are best for your entire team, " said Sharp. "And I feel that this is the best thing at this time for the Lady Raider program."

Sharp has always had a policy not to discuss personnel decisions and will not comment on this issue any further.

What is going on with this team? Could be the best since the National Championship year, and they look like they are coming apart. It just makes me sick.

It might be the best for the team to see that Marsha means business. I fully expect for PP to be back. At least I am praying that she does come back. She can be a great leader. I know that tomorrow this team will come fired up after the loss and the suspension. This team will gain unity!

Don't have a clue as to why Marsha suspended Pierson, but I do know that if she felt it had to be done, it had to be done! One of the things I most respect about Sharp and Hayes (baseball) is that they don't let star players hold them hostage to win and loss records.

wow, indefinite is pretty strong.........though I agree, kudos to Coach Sharp for doing something she felt necessary.
