Senior Caton Hill (Ada, Okla.) has been named to the 2004 Verizon Academic All-District VI Women’s Basketball Team, chosen by the district's members of College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The 2004 Academic All-America team will be announced on Thursday, March 4.

Hill has guided OU to a current national ranking of No. 24 in the AP poll, an overall record of 17-6 and a 7-5 Big 12 mark heading into Saturday’s game at Baylor.

“To be named to this team once is such an honor but to have it happen twice is something really special,” said senior forward Caton Hill. “We are extremely fortunate at OU to have a great Academic Center and support staff available to us. I’m proud to contribute to the academic success the women’s basketball team and athletic department has had recently.”

In a stroke of irony, Caton missed practice the week of the Kansas game in order to interview at the University of Kansas Medical School.

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State’s Big Three - Nicole Ohlde, Laurie Koehn and Kendra Wecker - were named to the 2004 Academic All-District VII Women’s Basketball Team Thursday as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Ohlde, the school’s all-time leading scorer (2,088 career points to date) and rebounder (948 career rebounds to date), was named to the first team along with Koehn. The senior All-American center from Clay Center, Kan., is the most decorated player in K-State women’s basketball history. Last season, she became only the second player in school history to be named to the prestigious WBCA/Kodak All-American Team. An elementary education major with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.631, Ohlde is currently one of the top finalists for the State Farm Wade Trophy and Naismith Player of the Year Awards. She was recently named to the Fall 2003 Big 12 Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll and was one of 30 K-State student-athletes to earn a perfect 4.0 GPA for the semester. This is her first appearance on the Academic All-District First Team, having been honored on the second team in 2003.

For the second consecutive year, Koehn earned first team recognition for her on-and-off the court accomplishments. The junior All-America candidate from Hesston, Kan., currently ranks sixth nationally in three-point field goals per game (3.2 avg) as of Feb. 16 and previously was the nation’s three-point leader on Feb. 2. Koehn ranks 12th all-time in scoring with 1,237 career points to date and second all-time in three-point field goals made (270). She is 16 three-pointers away from becoming the school’s all-time leader. An elementary education major holding an impressive 3.966 cumulative GPA, Koehn was recently named to the Fall 2003 Big 12 Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll and was one of 30 K-State student-athletes to earn a perfect 4.0 GPA for the semester.

Wecker, who ranks fifth all-time in scoring with 1,576 career points to date, received second team honors for the second time of her K-State career. The junior All-American forward from Marysville, Kan., is also a top finalist for both the State Farm Wade Trophy and Naismith Player of the Year Awards. Last season, she was named an Associated Press Third Team All-American and USBWA All-American. She is currently the team leader in rebounds (8.2 avg) and steals (46).

As first team selections out of the district, Ohlde and Koehn will move on to the national ballot.
