It seems to be a good game. Baylor is up by 3 with under 4 mins to play(59-56).

Final 74-67. Baylor wins and helps me out a little with my pick'ems. This is good win considering how tough it is to win on the road and especially in Norman.

Congratulations to Baylor. The Bears are sure proving themselves to be a force in the Big 12 this year.

Meanwhile, my pick'em ratio is going down, down, down. But I guess I have some company as I don't think to many folks picked OSU over Tech or Nebraska over K-State.

I will say this all season long....I am sure glad CU got Baylor in Waco early in the schedule...The Bears have definitely turned it up!

Kudos to Baylor. This was a really great game - evenly matched and stats for both teams look very similar. Both teams shot nearly 50 percent. BU tried a few more shots though and made a few more free throws even though OU shot 9 of 13 from the 3-point line. BU just had ice in their veins coming down the stretch and could not miss.

Really tough to lose at home. Especially on a day when Tech and KSU lost and OU could have made up ground.

Thanks for the report schooner. I didn't get to hear or of course see any of the game on TV. 9 of 13 from three is some serious shooting! Looks like Stratton has really stepped up for the Lady Bears.

Not only had we lost 11 in a row to the Sooners, at least three of those were on last second shots. So, as I listened with about 4 minutes to go, I was already trying to figure out the details of this years' collapse. So thank you Lady Bears for proving that this years' team not only has talent like in the past, but for once has the maturity and leadership to pull one out, on the road against a great team.

Now to see if lightning strikes twice against a severly p.o.'ed bunch of Wildcats in Manhattan.

Big12Bear,

Stratton did have another great game (her last two games have been her two highest scoring games in her career) but the big "step-up" hero was Chameka Scott. Kim started her in the second half mainly for defense on Dionnah Jackson, and she had a great game, first on defense, then she hit three huge baskets in the last 4 minutes to keep OU from getting back in it. For a young lady who plays only 8 minutes a game, and never in crunch time, to step up in an environment like that is a big plus for the Bears, and hopefully for her continued development.

This was a really great game....as schooner mentioned, the teams were so evenly matched.....and Baylor made the plays in the last minutes. The Baylor/Oklahoma matchups since Kim has come aboard have always been this way, and it looks like that will continue.
Baylor was making some very tough contested shots....Stratton made one there at the end with the shot clock almost expired that was flat out awesome...

congrats to Baylor........

Can the Big XII get any crazier? It will be very interesting to see how it all sorts out in the end....it may be in a way none of us expect.

Yes, I thought for the first time in this long series that Baylor did a better job of keeping their composure than my Sooners. They made some tough shots down the stretch, but they seemed confident and wanted the ball. OU had people passing up shots.

And I don't know how many times Sophia Young was right there under the basket for weakside rebounds - have to keep blockin out! OU was leading in rebounding going into the last minutes but lost it down the stretch. As the rebounding went, so went the game.

Jessica Stratton was a most impressive player today, and for a lot of reasons besides her shooting. She gets my vote for player of the week.

With the losses by KSU and TT, this is a tremendous win by the Bears; my Sooners will now have to go steal one back on the road if they hope to get back in the thick of the race!

Suddenly, I'm worried about the Sooners even making it to the NCAA's. Depends on how many B-12 teams are invited, of course, but ya gotta win at home.

As crazy as the Big XII is this year....there's just no telling this early in the season who's going where in March.

When you factor in that Baylor beat Texas, I can live (barely) with a home loss to the Lady Bears by the Sooners.

We will have to get an unexpected victory on the road to make up for it, no doubt.

Texas beat both Tennessee and Duke, and both wins were away from Austin. Those two teams were #1 and #2 when they played today.

So I can live with the loss to a very capable Baylor team, especially since the Sooners stole one in Waco last year.

Right now OU is still seeking that spark, that little thing that motivates them to play at a higher level when the chips are on the line. Right now it isn't there, but I wouldn't bet a plug nickel that it won't be there by March.

Wow. I just got home from Norman. The drive was not so bad this time. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif Soonerman, I saw the ponytail also.

Chameka Scott! Great play for a player that gets limited minutes. She came up really big in the second half with her rebounding and defense and scoring. I hope she gets to start against K-State.

I have been waiting to see Sophia block a shot like the one she got tonight. She looked like she was struggling all night due to the ankle injury she sustained against Kansas Wednesday night. Hope it gets better fast.

I'm jealous of you guys that made the trip. I was gonna go but had to work. On the other hand, the three previous trips i have made to the state of Oklahoma to watch the Bears have not had good results, so it's best for all involved (except Sooner fans)
that I didn't go. It sounded on the post-game show like there was a decent BU crowd there anyway.

I think OU will need to make up alot of ground over the next month or so. I think they will end up in the middle of the conference, at best. And I really think Milky Roubinson is a good coach and a good dresser, too. She looks really pretty in her tight outfits. The Oklahoma coach looks a little "cheap" in her outfits. Milky's a better coach and a better dresser, too!
Everybody needs to watch out for Baylor now. They can quit worrying about Oklahoma Sooners....they're Laters!

This imposter has insulted Tech, Baylor and Oklahoma. Hmmmm.

He is trying to make us angry and get us to post away attacking his statements. Then he'll just sit back and laugh. Of course, he is laughing already because he thinks he is so clever.

What is great here is that no one is really taking the bait. Hard to reel one in if they don't bite the hook.

Better yet, when the im-poster said something about Jia, it was two Longhorns and a Sooner fan who spoke up first questioning what was said. Good job HoopScoop members!

Great game to listen to.

It sounded like OU's defense got a bit tired/ragged in the waning moments. Baylor's physical intensity seemed to pay off and they made some great shots. Their aggressiveness in the paint really forces the defense to make some choices.

This was by far the most exciting game we have had in Norman this season. I loved every minute of it. It's this kind of a game a true junkie lives for! Funny, but both teams were making the same kinds of mistakes, and those were due to the fact that the players were moving way too fast to control the ball. But that's okay - both of these teams are fairly young and they will learn to hang onto the ball even at break-neck speed. Way to go, Bears and Sooners!

In general, both teams played very well. Our team was working so hard to contain Blackmon and Young that they kept leaving Stratton wide open. Hey, that kid can nail shots with a hand in her face, so naturally she's going to score when she is left alone. For a while there it looked as though she and Erin Higgins were playing 'Horse'. The outcome of the game wasn't any big surprise considering the fact that we have just barely escaped the Bear claws by the skin of our teeth several times these past 2 1/2 seasons. Our kids had several good opportunities to score during the last 5 minutes of the game but they just didn't, that's all. They got out-played and out-hustled, and I'm sure that they'll be big enough to admit it. All in all, it was such a great game and I'm proud of both teams.

Emily Niemann (sp?) is going to be great once she adjusts to the high-octane college game. And Leah Rush just keeps getting better and better.

Hey, what happened to the little gathering we had planned up by the yogurt stand???? I found Zo up there, but nobody else showed up. I went through 2 waffle cones before I finally gave up and went to my seat across the arena.

Zo, it sure was great to see you again! Thanks for making the trip! The Baylor contingent was energetic and LOUD, and was giving the Sooner majority some stiff competition. And I finally got to meet Bear Skin at the half. (Now, if I can just make contact with the other Sooner fans...)

During the last minute of the game I mosied on over to the other side so that I could congratulate Zo and Company. I hung around for a while and shot the breeze with some of the other Baylor faithful - such a nice bunch of people! It was great to be able to congratulate some of the players when they came out of the locker room. I felt very fortunate, indeed. I was even able to speak with Coach Kim for a bit. I had expected her to be turning handsprings, but she was surprisingly humble about the win. Gosh, this is the first time I have seen a head coach come back out of the locker room and greet the fans who made the trip to support the team! Such a gracious person - and she's one whup-*ss coach, as well!

Anyway, Baylor fans - congratulations - it was great to have you in our house!

I heard that the bus from Waco had about a 3 hour delay for a wreck in Dallas. Don't know why it even went the Dallas Route, through Ft. Worth is shorter and usually a lot faster, especially with that construction north of Ft. Worth completed.

CatladyOK, Schooner, ZO, Bear Skin and others, sorry I missed you Saturday afternoon. But I too enjoyed a very good game. It's always fun to go to the games at Lloyd Noble.

Boy, can Erin Higgins shoot! Think she must have been standing out in the Panhandle on some of those shots.

At the same time, I want to acknowledge the job that Dionne Brown did in defending against her, especially in the second half. Coach Mulkey switched her usual assignments and put Dionne on her. With those long arms, she proved an effective stopper against Erin in the second half. Here's to great defense by both Dionne and Chameka Scott.

One other observation . . . the anticipated matchup re working of the refs by the coaches just never appeared. I'm sure the public reprimand last week probably had something to do with it. But I sat on the west side of Lloyd Noble so I could watch both Coach Coale and KMR 'work' the refs. It just never materialized. Only one time did Coach Coale get kinda hot over a call, and then she promptly turned back to her seat and sat down. She has such a classy program, and it's fun to observe that.

I've seen all those refs before. I knew there was one bad one in the bunch and he had several typical goofy (bad) calls. The other two were fine. The oldest looking one with thinning hair on top - is a red/dark brown color. I've seen him before and he's just plain awful at times.

Anyway, I thought Coale would come unglued on a couple of those calls - by him of course. She was pretty upset after the game. More so than usual. Not quite sure it was just about him though.

I was actually disappointed that the coaches didn't tear into the refs as they usually do. I was looking forward to watching those 2 coaches as much as I was looking forward to watching the game. It was kind of like the first time Bobby Knight came to Norman. The place was jam-packed and we were all kind of let down when he acted so civilized!
