As we all pointed out at the beginning of the season, Fox sure has chosen some strange matchups, especially considering who they could have shown. Fox's lone telecast will be the Texas A&M at Colorado game. They chose to skip over Texas Tech at Iowa State and Texas at Oklahoma. Go figure.

Acording to my info from KSU the Tech game is supposed to be on Fox Sports on Sunday the 27th. It may be an ok game. I think I'll just mosey on over to Bramlage and try to catch it in person. Btw, I understand less than two thousand tickets remain available. I hear snow is predicted for the Kansas game so that may hold down the crowd for that KSU game, which is on Metro Sports in Kansas wednesday. I like to see fans instead of seats when WBB is on TV.

Horns at home by 8

Jan. 23:
KU @ KSU: would make a great rivalry if there was more than one team - 'Cats by double digits

A&M @ Baylor: KMR decides to watch from the bench as Baylor wins at home by 6

ISU @ CU: Clones on a roll by 10+

OSU @ TT: think it could be a long season in Stillwater - TT by 15

Will make my 26th & 27th picks in a later post

Thanks KSUJohn. I had just left a phone message for the ticket office to call me back. We are down to our last 113 tickets out of the 2,600 we bought. Sounds like we might not be getting any more tickets at Clay County Medical Center. Btw the population of Clay Center is less than 5,000.

Welcome to the HoopScoop site. Its the best!

Just out of curiosity, what are tickets selling for at Kansas State? Are there special prices or discounts involved? I only ask because we've been trying for years to get a sellout at Hilton and I think part of the reason is due to the tickets being $8 a piece.

Actually, tickets are $10 apiece now. Your season tickets left you out of the loop. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif Since I have to buy tickets on a per game basis, I'm very familiar with the prices.

Jan 23:
Kansas @ Kansas State-----Interstate rivalry?---K-State all the way

Texas A&M @ Baylor----This could be a good one----Home court advantage --- Baylor

Iowa State @ Colorado-----hmmmmmmm---This will be a tough game, not sure if ISU is up to the task at Colorado, but I have to go with my heart-----------ISU

Oklahoma State @ Texas Tech----Raider Power------Tech

Jan 26:
Baylor @ Texas----Another good one-------Texas at home

Iowa State @ Nebraska------Nebraska doesn't have what it takes----ISU

Oklahoma State @ Kansas-----Is this the "who cares" game of the week?------Oklahoma State

Colorado @ Missouri------Colorado

Oklahoma @ Texas A&M---the Aggies are tough, but I've seen Oklahoma play on the road-------Oklahoma in a close one.

Jan 27:
Texas Tech @ Kansas State---Should be an excellent game. Going with the home team----Kansas State

Horns will rebound, if they keep turnovers down---UT 73-Mizzou 60

1/23:

Intrastate war---turns into a bully pulpit. All KSU starters shot under 50% on Saturday. Won't happen tonight--- KSU 80-KU 51

Lady Bears now feeling better, Sheila,Danielle, Blackmon and Fox rock the Aggies---BU 78- A&M 65

This one all boils down to Roulier---If she is still hot, plus CU in the altitude-- But, Welle could score 30---Should be a toss up, but feel like the home team pulls it out--CU 77-ISU 74

Breakout coast game for the Lady Raiders---the "Sharper Image" is taking shape for the second half--- Tech 77--OSU 63

1/26 picks to follow after the 23rd----If ISU falters in Colorado--look for Chipper to go out on a limb,,,,,don't ya'll think he just will have to? Calista comes out for a meal!?!?!

Texas --- uh, that thrumping in Oklahoma inspires the Longhorn women to show the north that the South rules!!!

Kansas State -- the safe confines of purple and a loss amongst orange people gives the young'uns all the pep they need to pull out a w against the bottom rung of the Big 12.

Baylor - Baylor, in the confines of the Ferrell Center, I wouldn't pick against them.

Iowa State @ Colorado -- yikes, I think this is a hard one to pick......ok, I'm going with Colorado, they need the win to keep up with all the other 3-loss teams. Just blows my mind to find Iowa State presently tied with Nebraska.

Texas Tech - Red rules Orange, the Raiders come out full speed ahead and tear it up in Lubbock.

ChipperF1
01-21-2002, 01:16 PM
Jan 22:
Missouri @ Texas.......Missouri could use this win to boost their RPI standing, they won't get it. Burnt Orange is at home and not in a good mood. Look for another Stacy Stephens special.
Texas 79, Missouri 65

Jan 23:
Kansas @ Kansas State....After taking a bruising against Okie State, The Young and the Relentless won't have to breathe hard to beat up on the Big 12's worst team. Maybe Kansas should be relegated to a season of playing Kansas high school basketball.

Kansas State 74, Kansas 45

Texas A&M @ Baylor......The K-Cars looked like a bunch of Cordobas and Volares against TTU and Oklahoma, then they Dodge Rammed their way through Missouri.
Since the Aggies upset of ISU, the haven't since a ray of light at all.
Baylor's big bears will find the honey because they don't lose games that they aren't supposed to lose.

Baylor 77, Texas A&M 67

Iowa State @ Colorado......The Jenny and Mandy Show returned to prime time against Texas A&M, and it couldn't have come at a better time as they prepare to meet up with ICBM State, who have been strangely unable to turn the brass keys recently, while the found themselves the victim of TTU missile strikes (them darn missiles were a helluva lot more accurate than we thought)

Why am I going to pick an upset here? I'm tempted to. I want to. I will, and Tommy Tutone agrees.

Jenny will have their number
She hit 'em every time.
Jenny puts up big numbers
Roulier's big from the 3-point line (Roulier's big from the 3-point line)

Colorado 80, Iowa State 74

Oklahoma State @ Texas Tech.....Now the sun shined on Oklahoma State as they shocked them whippersnappers from Manhattan. Oh well, back to reality and a little trip to United Spirit Arena.
Let me see. Texas Tech loses an All-American candidate, has a prized reserve slip a cog. They have a hot shot guard who can be cold sometimes, the have a post player who is so slight that she's first-team all-Dixon Ticonderoga, but this team keeps on keepin' on.
What they did to Iowa State shocked me, but it shouldn't have. Once again this team looks Sharp, feels Sharp...and its all because of Marsha Sharp.

Texas Tech 86, Oklahoma State 65

the predictions from www.womenscollegehoops.com (http://www.womenscollegehoops.com)

Iowa State at Colorado- Two teams heading in different directions with Buffs winning last 3 in Big 12, Cyclones losing 3 of 4, but beat OU! ISU needs to find its defense in a hurry, because Colorado can score from anywhere and has post depth to keep Welle busy all night. Hard to see well coached ISU 2-5 in Big 12, but harder to see them winning in Boulder. Colorado 83-78.

Oklahoma Stab at Texas Tech- Cowgirls always good for an upset or two a year-just ask KSU. Still, two in a row over top teams too much to ask and TT almost NEVER loses games they should not lose. Tech prone to struggling on the offensive end, but at home, OSU can't keep up. TT 70-50.

Texas A&M at Baylor- Two words- Track meet. Three more words, Crockrom and Lambert. Four more words, Coaching and Home court. Two final words, Baylor wins. Bears 93-77.

http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gifmy note: I haven't seen Texas A & M play this year....are they playing like a run and gun team?

swok34, watching A&M play against Colorado on TV, it appeared to be a track meet. I was really surprised at the pace of the game, especially in the first half. Tocarra Williams was all over the place, having some great steals. It will be interesting to watch it unfold tonight. Baylor really likes to run if possible.

1/26 games:

The Lady 'Horns have been dad-gummed tough at home. Can Bowers stay hot for another game? If so the Horns would be favored. Betcha some freshmanitis comes back in,(inconsistency) and the Mulkster's ride Lambert and Crockrom et al to victory. BU 79-72

At some point, a team with lofty early goals reaches a critical point during this coninuing stretch of disasters if you will. I just fear that the disappointment of the season is creeping a bit into the attitude and believability of "winning" big games. Looks like the twisters are spinning out of control. Chipper---It is the day for Calista to eat like a hog, with reckless abandon and lack of concern for fears normally associated with such a rare event. Don't know how, sure it will be ugly, but ,,, Neb. 74 ISU 71

Skibbe and Hawkins back on a hot streak, Jays stay in the "L" column. OSU 75 KU 53

Colorado got ISU without Roulier's help. They get it back today. Scott and Lappe have been producing too. CU 80 Mizzou 68

Rested, ready and roaring up and down the court. Full court press??? Stay in it and it will be 40 by halftime. Sooner Women are not going to be unprepared or not ready to go!!!!

http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/ou.gif 87 Aggies 58

1/27 game:

This team from the Panhandle is Jian' and gellin'. KSU freshpersons are tapping into the "wall" just a bit. The belief in the "Sharper Image" and recent chink in the armor of confidence puts Tech over the top. Tech 74- KSU 70

Jan 26:
Baylor @ Texas.........Whew, what a ballgame this will be!!! Two young sharp basketball teams. Jody's Day Care Kids vs. Kim's K-Cars. Lambert-Crockrum vs. The Longhorn inside job.
Both teams have been on the horse in recent games, but I like Texas a little better. The forwards are on a hot streak and they are at home.....
Texas 78, Baylor 75

Iowa State @ Nebraska.....ICBM State can't effect a successful launch? Say it ain't so. Vichy Colorado laid the wood on 'em.
Now I'm torn here. Should I be Husker fan or Hoopscoop Analyst here. Yeah, Nebraska's been to winning Big 12 basketball what MTV's Daria is to a positive outlook. The Huskers have only beaten the Big 12's other "worst team in the league". Maybe Iowa State is crashing. Maybe the nuclear arsenal is out of atoms. Maybe the Huskers will have a great crowd of 10,000 waiting to see this team put a great game together.

Maybe, Nebraska will do what they normally do, play poor defense. Iowa State hit their usual barrage of three-point bombs. Lindsey Wilson embarasses Shannon Howell, again. Keasha Cannon scores 25 of Nebraska's 55 total points. Charo Robinette and Charo Jones continue their candidacy for "All-Time All-American" busts.
The Cyclones are standing on our necks, la, la laaa-la-la.

Iowa State 80, Nebraska 55

Oklahoma State @ Kansas....Strangely enough, Kansas played better in their loss to Kansas State than Nebraska did in their loss to Kansas.
Oklahoma State is the best of the Big 12's Enron Division

Oklahoma State 69, Kansas 55

Colorado @ Missouri.........There isn't a single player on Colorado from France, there's no Shelly Sheetz, but this team is starting to look like the Colorado will know and love. A team that is together and better than most everyone else.
Missouri will make a fine WNIT team this season.

Colorado 74, Missouri 60

Oklahoma @ Texas A&M..........Texas A&M is still in the running for the Enron Cup, Oklahoma should help their hopes. They'll keep the Aggies in the lower third.

Oklahoma 83, Texas A&M 68

Jan 27:
Texas Tech @ Kansas State...Welcome to Manhattan. It's sold out with purple power. Fans crazy, Team crazy, everybody is thinking "The youngster will beat Texas Tech"

2 HOURS LATER.....
"Kansas State's been living an impressive dream," Jia Perkins said. "But the Lady Raiders came to wake them up. You know, I love the sound of filled arena dead quiet. It sounds like victory."

Texas Tech 81, Kansas State 71

Re: Chipper - Colorado v. Missouri

Colorado reserve center Virginie Delepine is from Loeuilly, France. However, I'm sure your comment is a side reference to the fact that Caroline Koechlin did not return this year for the Buffs.

That's ok, the reserve gal from Schenectady, New York fills in quite nicely and is a good offensive threat. Iowa State did not take Kate Fagan seriously. Kate simply canned three, three point baskets in row to put Iowa State in a hole.

Texas - As much as I would like to see Baylor win, I just don't see it happening in Austin.

Iowa State @ Nebraska - who do you pick here? Logic says Iowa State, but the road has not been kind at all to Iowa State, they've yet to win a game on the road. Nebraska has only lost to Texas at home, oh well, forget that, the 2 teams they beat Texas A & M and Kansas.......ok, I'll say Iowa State gets one on the road.

Oklahoma State ---hmmmmm, Oklahoma State is playing pretty good, just please wear 'em out Kansas (is that possible?)
Oklahoma State gets a road win...their first and I'm not sure Kansas will win a single game in the Big 12.

Colorado @ Missouri - hmmmm, this may be one of the barn-burners of the day....playing at Missouri can sometimes be a tough thing......but I'll say Colorado gets this game.

Oklahoma - thank god, Oklahoma finally gets a little breather, after a week off, everyone patched up and rested, Oklahoma actually has the HEIGHT ADVANTAGE over Texas A & M...I didn't think OU had a height advantage over anyone....go prepared, Sooners, these Aggies have managaed to win 2 games and they liked how it felt.......Too many guards, too much Caton, Talbert almost won't know how to act, no one there to block her shot.
OU storms by a lot! go http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/ou.gif

Jan 27:
Texas Tech @ Kansas State --- yikes, hmmmm, KSU plays a zone just like Iowa State; this game comes down to Tech's 3 point shooters.....given that this game is at home and KSU is refocused after that loss in Stillwater, they continue on their trek. Kansas State by just a few.

Jan 26:

Baylor at Texas---Bears proved road toughness at Mizzou...but won't blow out Horns in Austin...UT has thrived on close games against good teams...will root for BU again but...Texas over Baylor

Iowa State at Nebraska---seems like Lincoln has been tough for Cyclones in the past...gotta wonder if ISU is feeling fatique both mentally and physically...just can't believe these seniors will let season tailspin...time to stop the bleeding...Iowa State over Nebraska

Oklahoma State at Kansas---Cowgirls gaining confidence and very hungry...Oklahoma State over Kansas

Colorado at Missouri---took Buffs awhile to find consistency...seem to have it now...playing up to pre-season expectations in nick of time...Colorado over Missouri

Oklahoma at Texas A&M---A&M forces many turnovers...OU is known to give up a few...may look sloppy but TO's won't stop this scoring machine...Oklahoma over Texas A&M

Jan 27:

Texas Tech at Kansas State---wish KSU team and fans weren't so dadgum hyped for this game ...wish it were in Lubbock...likely to be a gut-wrencher for fans of both teams...can zone O come thru one more time...Texas Tech over Kansas State
