OSU Fans?

This quote from the latest Sports Illustrated:

"Gallagher-Iba Arena is without a doubt the most frightening place to play in the Big 12. For starters, visiting teams encounter thousands of foul-mouthed, leather-lunged fanatics-and their husbands."

May be humorous, but any truth in it?
Have only been there once, about 3/4 years ago for a men's bb game. I was the only non player visible with green on. Quite intimidating. Fans were loud but not foul mouthed.

Do we have any OSU fans on this board?

I think for men's basketball, this is probably true. Of course, when a team like Kansas' men comes in and grabs a giant lead, the crowd is a non factor. I think that game was a couple of weeks ago and students were lined up with sleeping bags the night before. The first come/first serve method applies to the floor student seats.....I know you cannot get tickets to their mens basketball games.

oops, should have read the whole post first.....this may be referring to the Texas/OSU game where 2 Texas players were trying to save the ball from out of bounds and ran over a pregnant woman, who's husband in turn went after the Texas player....

I have travelled to OSU twice for Lady Raider games, and we were treated great. The coach thanked us for coming, the fans were enthusiastic but never nasty, the halftime festivities were fun and appropriate.

Can't say the same for the Drum or whatever they call it now.

I went to grad school at OSU and made it to a couple of men's games while there. Never seen anything like that describes. As swok points out, it could be a reference to the OSU/Texas game.

Gallagher-Iba Arena is always touted as one of the toughest, if not THE toughest, place to play, due to the crowd and to some degree, the design of the arena.

Checked with a friend of mine who is a moderator on one of the OSU boards. The auther's phone number and email address was posted yesterday. Apparently he is known as an a$$hole and hates Oklahoma in general. He's made other derogatory comments about OSU/Stillwater, such as the 'pig smell' as you enter town.

How'd this guy get a job w/ ESPN?
