Yeah, and especially 3-6. I noticed in one poll - can't remember which one - the Big 12 had 5 consecutive teams in the rankings between 10 and 20. This is a fun year for basketball!

It is somehwat puzzling to me how Texas Tech could be ranked ahead of Texas with 5 losses to Texas' 3 losses. And, Texas beat Tech. Reputation is a strong ally.

I don't think it factors just the win-loss part of things.

I also think our - UT - loss to Miami is still haunting us.

I'm not sure about this but I think Sagarin takes the RPI formula a couple of steps farther. RPI is based on a team's opponent's win/loss records and also the w/l records of the opponent's opponents. Sagarin uses strictly mathematical formulas, no reputation involved. He considers margin of victory in the computation. Right now he give 3.86 points as a home team advantange. So if a home team wins by less than 4, it is factored into the formula as a loss. Tech has the 2nd rated schedule as far as success of opponents (and their opponent's success). That schedule must be giving Tech a boost in the formula despite their losses.
We're still not half way through conf games yet, so there is no telling where each team will wind up. I just thought it was interesting that so many of the B12 teams were so close to together, so close to the top.
