I am wondering what areas each team has improved the most.
For example, I think one of Tech's biggest improvements from last year is their perimeter play. We dont really have a go to player in the paint and we are distributing the ball and scoring from the perimeter a great deal more.

I see OU as completely opposite and scoring more in the paint than in year's past....
not that we don't have our perimeter shooters, but just seem to see more balance of inside/outside...rather than the perimeter game I've seen them play for year's.

I'd say Texas has made the biggest improvement in parity of play. Last year we had outstanding play makers, but it would have been hard to imagine winning a game against a top 5 team with single digit points from Stacy, Heather and Kala. Each of those players scored less than 10 in the win over Tennessee.
I see Tech's biggest improvement in chemistry. It seems like every player on the floor knows what the other ones are going to do. These are the only two teams I've watched enough of to offer an opinion.

Im bumping this to the top to see if we can get off this Texas vs Tech P$$%#$% contest. Still would like to hear about other Big 12 teams.

Tech has the fire in the belly that's been missing...
Nebraska seems to be improving in many areas...ball handling, defense, reading the court, passing....from everything I've read.
Texas seems to be playing faster with Norman pushing the ball up the court and Jackson adding some athleticism and finese. There's less focus on the inside power.
I only saw CU in the USC game, but they seem to have more confidence in each other and more balanced scoring.

OU Has:
1. Depth - everywhere, but particularly in the post. We've never had a really good three player post rotation, even with the Final four team. We do now, plus many others. It would be interesting to see how many teams would rank with OU in terms of percentage of scoring coming from the bench.
2. Shooting - OU has shot 50% or better in 6 games so far. In the final four year, that happened in 9 games all season.

I'd say ISU's biggest area of improvement is in the low post area. Playing Kriener and Wilkins together will be a lot of size for some teams. Getting Katie Robinette in shape will only help that cause.
The other thing is that this is a team that actually seems to enjoy playing together, and I thought that chemistry was seriously lacking last year.
This year may still be a bumpy ride, but I think that we will benefit from that in years to come!

Nebraska has improved in every category. Connie Yori has a team to work with and her skills are showing even more.
Every player has worked on a weakness from the pass. They are in better condition. They are fundamentally improved. The team hasn't executed this well in seven years, and they have the one thing I value above anything else. This team has cojones y corazones.
I guarantee three things in conference play.
1. This team will never be blown out in any game.
2. This team will never quit in any game.
3. Nebraska will walk into Norman, Oklahoma in our Big 12 opener, and defeat Oklahoma in their own crib.

Well Chipper what I want is six tickets to the http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/nu.gif http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/ksu.gif game at the "Bob" but the whole blasted athletic department has been closed for the holidays. KSU's won't wake up again till the 5th. Ahh well, I'm sure there are still plenty of good seats available. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/wink.gif
For Kansas State I think the greatest areas of improvement are:
1. "guard play" with the new contributions of McIntrye and Coggins and shifting Mahoney to the point. Mahoney presents a challenge for shorter point guards and has been able to handle the defense of quick smaller guards. She does after all have to face Twiggy in practice every day. Full court presure seems to not bother the new set up much and at 6' Mahoney sees the court better than Chelsea Domenico could. With Mahoney at point and Coggins at the wing on offense there are shooters and scorers at all positions.
2. "Depth" and the coaches confidence in our bench. Murdock, Coggins and McIntyre will all see more minutes and Madden has continued to develop her game. Plus Koehn IS able! It is SOOOO nice to see her healthy again. In fact with Ohlde's ankle healed and everyone getting over the flu bug I think the Cats are in the best condition they have been in for a long time. The whole team is available at full strength.
3. "ATTITUDE!" and approach to the game. There is new fight and spunk in this team that casual followers may not have noticed but this edition of the Wildcats is more aggressive and more confident. They belive in each other and belive they belong in the top group of teams in the country. They know they can play with and beat anyone, even if not everything goes perfectly.
