It may seem strange for a Baylor fan to stick up for the Ags, especially after a 34 point blow out loss to the Bears in Waco.
However, since we seem to have no A&M fans on this board, I'd like to alert the conference to the potentiality of a loss to those lady Aggies.
Last night's game seemed to have three phases. Phase one lasted about the first ten minutes. A&M threw a no holds barred full court zone press on the Bears and had me worried -- neither team could score worth a darn and we were having a LOT of trouble with the press. Phase two lasted about the next twenty minutes and the bears learned to handle the press and get easy basket after easy basket, building about a 40 point lead at one point.
Phase three was the last ten minutes when KMR emptied the bench and gave a lot of time to young ladies that don't usually play.
MY POINT:
I glanced at some old Aggie box scores and saw that their opponents all had high turnover numbers (if ISU took longer to figure out the press, it would explain the 32 TO and the loss)
A&M runs a very good press; however, their coach seemed to keep them in the press defense for the entire game, even after the Bears were regularly breaking it. Even our subs handled it fairly well.
IF their coach will pull back and utilize some additional, less chaotic defenses, and they can start hitting their own shots, opponents could be in trouble.
Their next six, and nine of their final ten games are against South teams.
I expect an upset in one of their next three home games:
