Senior Jia Perkins needs 9 pts to move into 4th place on Tech's all-time scoring list to pass Sheryl Swoopes (1991-93) with 1,645. Course there is a HUGE asterisk there since Swoopes got hers in 2 seasons.

Jia's on track to join the 2,000 pt club this year and if she stays on track with 19 pts per game, she could pass Michi Atkins and Alicia Thompson.

But at the top sits Carolyn Thompson with 2655 pts and 1247 rebounds...records that may never be broken.

On another note the Wyoming team was aviding checking out the hardware in the Lady Raider trophy case in the USA yesterday and some nice comments with a note of awe and wistfullness in their voice.

We take the success of our program and the university support for granted sometimes and I reminded how lucky we are but it wasn't always like this.

I wanted to stop and tell them they too can have it...look at UCONN and Texas Tech as examples of teams that rose from obscurity. It happens game by game...player by player.

Course since I had it in my head they were from Pacific I would have just embarrassed myself and they would have been far too cool to have that conversation with me.

Weird to think that Swoopes doesn't hold the Tech record...I remember seeing Clarissa Davis as #2 on Texas's list (behind Annette Smith) and thinking, "how is that possible?" - then I remebered how she missed most of her junior year with an injury. Both Davis and Swoopes do top their respective schools' lists in points per game, I believe - often a more telling stat.

Swoopes scored all those points in just two seasons. If only she'd had four.
