The game is confirmed sold out by the KSU marketing department. We are major league happy at my little shop because we have been promoting this with KSU's assistance as Nicole Ohlde Day. Kendra Wecker day was the sold out for the Nebraska game, so the best we could do was sell out sooner. Its not hard to promote these kids around here so we did not have to do a lot. GO WBB! GO Big XII, GO KSU Wildcats!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats! We in Raiderland will take this as a compliment. It should be an exciting night for both teams. Only wish it was going to be on tv.
FYI..the Lubbock AJ carried an article about KSU today written
by Lori Riley from the Hartford Courant.
Better talent boosting Kansas State into spotlight (http://www.lubbockonline.com/stories/011802/col_0118020027.shtml)

Thanks for the kind words. I'll have to check on your TV comment. KSU and the Big 12 site still say its going to be on Fox Sports Net. I could be wrong about that. It would not be the first time.
We sold 2,600 tickets through my hospital. Lots of Clay Center area people already had tickets so I was surprised by the sales. The population of Clay Center is less than 5,000 so I thought we would hit a finite limit on sales much sooner. As it is we just ran out of tickets, not buyers. Many of the tickets did go to our wider trade area of course.
My office staff was very glad to see the last ticket go. It was fun but we went through those 2,600 tickets in one week in addition to having a high patient load right now. Sometimes you can get almost too much of a good thing. On monday we had KSU fans lined up from the admiting desk out the front door. This great surge of intrest will pass so I am glad to have had the chance to ride the wave. Now I can relax and get ready to watch the game. (after OSU & KU)

Btw the sales were also a compliment to the Red Raiders as you suggested. Many people here are getting up on Big 12 WBB and there were lots of comments about expecting a very competitive game.
Thanks for the article. It is a good one.

As far as I know, the game is going to be on FSN. It has been on the schedule since the beginning so I would bet it still will be.
BTW...here are the attendance figures as of games played through the 13th I think:
Team Home Games Cumulative Attendance
Baylor 9 42,883
Colorado 9 19,521
Iowa State 9 88,772
Kansas 8 7,894
Kansas State 8 43,076
Missouri 8 14,724
Nebraska 8 22,261
Oklahoma 6 29,936
Oklahoma State 8 15,188
Texas 9 45,445
Texas A&M 9 13,654
Texas Tech 7 93,737
Big 12 Totals 98 437,091
Average 4,460
Almost halfway there! Still not looking good though. Last year the Big XII averaged a little over 5000 per game. Maybe, though, it'll pick up since KSU is bringing in more fans. Go Big XII!

Congratulations Kansas State and Texas Tech! Having a sell-out is wonderful. Not only speaks about the rivalry in the Big 12, but the continued growing fan support! Great job! Just wish we could get a sell-out at ISU one of these days.
GO BIG 12

Texas Tech has had two sellouts in th 15,050 United Spirit Arena. The first was against LSU in the first game in the USA and against OU that same season (1999-2000). They came very close in 2000 against ut (14,852).

You all aren't planning to have one today? What was the attendance at the OU game? I would have thought that there might be a sellout today because it is on a saturday afternoon. Tech's attendance is usually larger and louder on weekends. Well...I guess I'll wish luck to the Lady Raiders and I'll be listen' to the game. Go Lady Raiders!!

The attendance for the Oklahoma game was 11,148.
The OU game had about 11200 people. I think I calculated last season that ISU got 1500 or more fans per game on the weekends, So that'd be about 12700, which is still 1300 short of a sellout.

I don't suppose they are selling tickets to the February 13th game with Oklahoma yet? I've heard that OU is taking fan buses to Manhattan for the game. Should be interesting how many go since we won't get back till around 2 AM. I'm seriously thinking about going!

I think I'm going, also....schooner......I think OU may need our help http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif
Just hope they don't give us tickets where the Waco folks did http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif
We gave Texas fans good seats.

I'm sure they are selling tickets for that game but I'm also sure there are "plenty of good seats left". It would still be a good idea to get the tickets early. I don't know if they will set aside a specific block of seats for you. There are about 1,500 season ticket holders but only about 800 or so of us have designated reserved seats. The first fifteen rows of the chair backs on the west side near center court are a reserved section. The rest of the place is general admission. It should make you feel at home. (looks like the Oklahoma land rush when they open the doors)
I would bet that the seating dynamics change dramatically next year. Last year there were 173 season tickets and you could not get reserved seats at all. This year its 1,500. Next year I would hope that KSU has several thousand season ticket holders in reserved seats. It will be intresting to see how much of the new fan intrest falls off after the loss to OSU. I hope not too much. This is still a good team that is fun to watch. I will be in row 10, section six seats 6, 7, 8 & 9 with my wife and another couple from work. They are both KSU grads but he is in trouble with her for teaching their son to sing "Boomer Sooner". (There is no explaining some peoples taste)

So where have opposing team fans been sitting? Decent seats?

The Nebraska fans that I saw were mostly on the east side behind the NU bench but more towards the end than usual due to the crowd. Unfortunatly that game sold out about 4pm on game day and I think some Nebraska busses that assumed tickets woul be available were disapointed. I would say that most of the fans from opposing teams are conregated in the area behind their bench. Those are not chair back seats btw. If you need assistance with working with the KSU ticket office in addition to your contacts at OU I will do what I can on this end. I sent you an email so you can let me know.
I have found the KSU ticket office folks very good to work with. I'm sure they will correct any false assumptions I have if need be.

Sounds good KSUron. All teams are alloted 100 tickets. If we have more interest than that here - maybe we'll need to get in touch with you KSUron. Will you have the ability to give us some tickets if we say, "Hey, how about 36 tickets, KSUron?!" ?

Last year, of course, fans of visiting teams could have their pick of about 10,000 seats. This used to not be an issue. I'm not sure we are real good at this yet.
KSU just announced a new student ticket policy today. Prior to it, any student with a valid ID could walk up and show his/her student ID and get in to any seat in the place except the reserved section. No actual ticket was even bothered with. Now its a bit more controlled. Btw, school was not in session at the time of the Nebraska sell out. If it had been, a real mess could have developed.

I can't say in advance. I don't want to turn into a ticket agency, but for you I will be happy to give it a shot. I am not an agent of the university (except in the eyes of the stupid NCAA) so I don't have special leverage.
