O.K. As much as it hurts me, I am going to predict against my Longhorns at Oklahoma. Of course, I hope I'm wrong. I wouldn't bet much on many of these predictions. The Big 12 is wacky as always!
Here is the Big XII schedule for week 3:

Missouri - ok, I think what Missouri does have is a tough home court.
Baylor - egads, tough one to pick....I'm going with Baylor. If they play anywhere near as tough as they did Saturday, they will squelch those road troubles they had last year.
Colorado - wow, will Kansas win a Big 12 game this year, perhaps, but not tonite.
Oklahoma ---- actually this game is on the 15th, too.
hmmmmmm, does OU get the frustrations of the past 2 Iowa State losses......NO, I've felt ever since the Connecticut game, they had been prepared for loud and noisy places.
Go http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/ou.gif Beat http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/isu.gif
Kansas State - ok, now if Texas A & M comes out hitting on all cylinders and goes to hitting threes, I'll be dancing in the air.
Texas - just don't think Oklahoma State has what it takes to defeat the longhorn crew.
Can every visiting team beat the home team in the next round of games? NO! But it makes for an intriguing prediction.
Nebraska over Missouri
Texas Tech over Baylor
Colorado over Kansas
Oklahoma over Iowa State
Kansas State over A&M
Texas over Oklahoma State
Now on the 19th, my feeling is the home team wins.
But if Baylor escapes with a win in Lubbock, I think
Tech would be able to beat the San Antonio Spurs.
Marsha Sharp does not lose 5 in a row.
Goodness, what am I thinking?!?! They won't lose anymore at home.
(uhhhh, I meant conference games. Forgot about 02/17/02)
Now I have to go back up and edit my selection.
1/19/02 Picks
Missouri over Baylor
Colorado over Texas A&M
Texas Tech over Iowa State
Nebraska over Kansas
Oklahoma State over Kansas State (If not now, KSU doesn't lose until the 27th)
Oklahoma over Texas (Oklahoma doesn't lose until February)
((and no swok34, I'm not saying what day in February))

Nebraska @ Missouri--Not real interested in this one--Missouri
Oklahoma @ Iowa State--ISU 3 losses in a row? ISU 2 home losses in a row? Don't think so. this will be the game of the week and should be a great one. ISU by 3.
Jan 16
Baylor @ Texas Tech--Baylor's on a roll, but got to go with the home team on this one. TTU
Colorado @ Kansas--Certainly not the Kansas of old. Colorado by a bunch.
Kansas State @ Texas A&M--K State running wild and the Aggies coming off one great win. Home court advantave. TAMU
Texas @ Oklahoma State--No contest, Hook 'em Horns. Texas
Jan 19
Baylor @ Missouri--Keep on rollin'. Baylor
Texas A&M @ Colorado--Could be an interesting game. TAMU
Texas Tech @ Iowa State--ISU getting it back together. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/isu.gif
Kansas @ Nebraska--Another game I'm not particularly interested in. Nebraska
Kansas State @ Oklahoma State--K State all the way.
Texas @ Oklahoma--Should be one GREAT game. Sorry horns, got to go with Oklahoma.

Nebraska @ Missouri....Important game for both ballclubs. Each team has WNIT possibilities and the field for the WNIT is starting crowd up with all the wild results nationwide.
The Huskers gave a fierce effort against Kansas State, and they owe for last years embarrassment in Columbia.
The Tigers aren't playing bad ball, they've beaten Texas Tech, and if they keep winning...I can see them in the top 25. They are DANGER close to the rankings.
I think the key for Missouri will be how will Barr contends Keasha Cannon, and Unrau inside. The Huskers had problems with sharpshooters and a hefty inside presence in the last three games.
However, the fan in me will not let me pick Missouri...
Nebraska 69, Missouri 67
Jan 16
Baylor @ Texas Tech.........WHOA BABY! This will be veddy interestink. Baylor is playing better basketball than TTU is, but the Bears at times can't get their prime weapons on track. Sunday showed what happens with you get Jia Perkins going and keep her going. I think she's on a streak right now and the Lady Raiders will ride the wave
Texas Tech 79, Baylor 74
Colorado @ Kansas.............No way Vichy Colorado loses this one.
Colorado 81, Kansas 61
Oklahoma @ Iowa State..........There's been so much anti-ISU flak over the last week.."They are whiners", they are embarssing blah, blah, blah. Personally I'm sick of it. Every year, people dis the Cyclones. Yeah, they are a bunch of slow farm girls who can hit shots from as far away as Guntrie Center. Yeah, the come from Ankeny and Rousseau.
ISU's problem over the last six games has been they've been unaggressive. Last year and the year before even when ICBM State couldn't shoot well, they'd crank out wins with tenacity and defense and they aren't doing that this year.
Oklahoma is runnin', gunnin and having so much funnin'. Caulfield-Dales has been the ticket for the last 7 games.
But I have a feeling when comes to the Hilton, the first strike's gonna hit them, and their national ranking.
CINC-CYCLONE has declared DEFCON-1....Iowa State 85, Oklahoma 81 (OT)
Kansas State @ Texas A&M.....The Young vs. The Restless. All of a sudden Texas A&M has proven something. This team has confidence for the first time, but KSU's walking in with NO FEAR.
Kansas State 78, Texas A&M 65
Texas @ Oklahoma State....Young Texas could be caught PUI...I think they'll still win it, but OSU will play close
Texas 74, Oklahoma State 66

Was intending to throw in a bit of clever repartee'---but following Chipper makes one feel like a pair of brown shoes when the rest of the world is a tuxedo.!
1/15
Though would love for Chipper to get off to a good week, Mizzou will be too tough at home. 68-64 Mizzou
I am at a complete loss to explain ISU's early conference debacle. Query, when do you guard Rose---after the first three or four threes or just let her go for 8!!!! Heck Ross may make 12. After UCONN and Baylor, http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/ou.gif will not be fazed by the crowd in Ames. Sooner Women 81-ISU 73
1/16
Baylor has had trouble on the road for a while. Tech is getting some chemistry, but confidence is still unstable. Cochrum and Lambert will be too much. Lady Bears 73---Lady Raiders 69
Colorado 88----KU 64
Roulier has breakout game and Nightingale stays hot
The aberration comes to an end. Rose goes back to her season average. Problem is Koehn, Ohlde and the rest exceed their's.
KSU 79---A&M 54
Lady Longhorns will have a slow start as Jody cannot convince them they will have to try very hard to win this one. However, the Lady Horn's rebound as they have this year and win by 9.
Horn's 72- OSU 63

Actually the crowd at Lubbock was larger and louder than either of those. That seemed to fire up OU instead of intimidate them, the measure of a mature team.

Sorry---USA was a mere oversight, no slight intended. However, due to how the game started out,(25-3) the crowd was not as loud as usual on the last visit. Just have a feeling it will be full and rocking on Wednesday.
Trust me though---UCONN and Baylor were loud too.

ah, www.womenscollegehoops.com (http://www.womenscollegehoops.com) is picking a couple of Big XII games this go round:
Oklahoma at Iowa State- Obviously a key game and although Dales led Sooners are coming of an emotional win at Baylor we are troubled but ISU's recent skid in losing 3 of 4 including 17 point loss at A&M (ouch!). ISU due for good game, but lack of timely defense (recently) is no way to beat OU, and Angie can't do it alone, Sooners 85-75.
Colorado at Kansas- Buffs way too quick and deep to not win here as Mandy and Jennifer lead the way. Jayhawks looking like Big 12 cellar dwellers so far. Colorado 75-55.
Kansas State at Texas A&M- Another good test for Cinderella like Wildcats who need to remember to bring their track shoes in match up with upset ready A&M-just beat Iowa State ! Still, KSU has proven they can handle success, A&M has not. KSU 90-70.
Baylor at Texas Tech- Hard to overstate the importance of this game to these two. Winner stays in Big 12 hunt and gets NCAA type win-loser is in a tale spin. Tech defense has abandoned it in 3 game losing streak and Bears will surely take advantage. Of course, Baylor not known for its defensive prowess as evident in recent losses to KSU and OU. We are worried about Tech's state of mind, but Lubbock is a tough -place to win, Texas Tech 73-69.

Chipper what does ICBM stand for in ICBM State?
ChipperF1
01-14-2002, 07:31 PM
ICBM- InterContinental Ballistic Missile...
ICBM State--Nickname for Iowa State womens basketball, because of their propensity to launch a massive amount of long-range three point shots...so in this case its an Intentional Cyclone Ballistic Missile. And if you are a Nebraska fan, given Iowa State shots an average of 20 or so and hits 65% of those shots, its an Irritating Cyclone Ballistic Missile.

Chip,
Nobody in Columbia is thinking WNIT. We have a bigger goal in mind, and it's ALL we're interested in right now. How can the Tigers be that close to the top 25, coming off a strong win over Tech, and be WNIT material?
Daddo, the automatic bids from the various conferences around the country take up a huge chunk of the big dance, therefore leaving out some better teams.

It's still early and a lot can happen between now and March, but Missouri also has that blowout loss to OSU, so are they really that close to Top 25?

Games for the 19th:
Even on the road, Mulkey stays under control and Lady Bears rebound to control Mizzou--79-65
Aggies just may be back on their way toward the bottom of the standings. The air is too thin and the shots are too off. Roulier is going to score 18 one of these games. This may be the one. CU 80 A&M 62
Tarr, Ritchie and White---oh and Jia all bomb away. ISU starts strong but the energy is a bit off after the big win vs. the Sooners. ISU finds out what 42% shooting in the second half feels like after 78% Tuesday. Lady Raiders eke out the game.
Tech 75-74
Nebraska gets well, Chipper has a bunch of "what they did right's" to write about. Even "Charo" gets 17. NU 72 KU 53
The magic continues for the kids. Somebody better shake their confidence soon. KSU 77- OSU 65
Ross back in a groove, Caulfield still on a roll, Dales doing it all. Hill and Talbert like the full house. Just a bad time for the Lady Horns to get to show up in Norman. Will be a great game.

#13 Baylor (1-3) @ #41 Missouri (3-1)
So here's to you Mulkey-Robinson, losing your cool with 8 to go...whoa, whoa, whoa.
BaylorChrysler ran into a little downturn against Texas Tech, and now going up against a tough Missouri team that left Nebraska with a savage Columbian necktie.
Alejandro Sosa Stein and her associates I think will do the same to Baylor.
Missouri 67, Baylor 63
Texas A&M (2-2) @ #22 Colorado (2-3)
Even with a loss, the Aggies are red hot and more competitive, but I'm going to go with Vichy Colorado in this one, now if that Jenny Roulier can get going, it won't be close
Colorado 77, Texas A&M 69
#15 Texas Tech (2-3) @ #14 Iowa State (2-3)...I know Jia Perkins is on a hot streak. I know that if Iowa State walked on water, many pundits would scream "BILL FENNELLY'S GIRLS ARE TO UNATHLETIC TO SWIM"
I know Texas Tech is great...but this is Hilton, baby
That darn arena can kill anybody..except Kansas State
Iowa State 84, Texas Tech 75
Kansas (0-5) @ Nebraska (1-4)...Welcome to the Big 12's [b]freak show[\b]. SEE the two worst coaches in the Big 12 on the same stage before they get fired at the end of the year. SEE Two High School All-Americans who have shown all the ability of a plate of cold cuts. SEE two three-point specialist named K.C. who couldn't hit water if they were on a boat in the middle of the Atlantic. SEE the two tallest stiffs in the Big 12 conference.
SEE the only player in the game who can actually play, Big 12 Newcomer of the Year, Keasha Cannon (I'm giving her the award early. Who else in this league has do so much for a team that's worth so little. Keasha, I respect you for not lowering to the cowardice and indifference that is Nebraska womens basketball.)
There will be no congratulations from me should Nebraska win this game, metromaniac. You don't get any points for beating Callista Flockhart in an eating contest.
Nebraska 57, Kansas 37
#9 Kansas State (5-0) @ Oklahoma State (1-3)...When you are winning they was the Wildcats are, everyplace is Clay Center, Kansas.
Kansas State 78, Oklahoma State 59
#12 Texas (5-0) @ #3 Oklahoma (4-1)...Remember when I said..."people had better get used to 'Texas Fight'"
(Texas Fight "Chipper's make-up for the Texas Tech version remix")
Texas Fight! Texas Fight!
And it's goodbye to Sherri Coale
Texas Fight! Texas Fight!
Watch the Sooners at home just fold.
Texas Fight! Texas Fight!
We're in love with Jody again.
Hail, Hail, the gang's all here,
Hook 'em horn with a big fat grin.
Yea, Orange! Yea, White!
Yea, Stacy Stephens! Fight! Fight!
With Tracy and Heather, we own the paint!
We're the Longhorns, and you aint!
The 'Eyes of Bowers' are upon you,
Caulfield has a long day
The 'Eyes of Kenya' are upon you,
And Dales Fails to get away
Texas Fight! Texas Fight!
We're in love with Jody again.
Hail, Hail, the gang's all here,
Hook 'em horns with a big fat grin.

A "W" is and always will be a "W", even in an eating contest with an anorexic!!!! (I also chuckled out loud a minute ago) They add up and count at the end.
If Texas only scores 74 at Lloyd Noble, that won't be enough for the Lady 'Horns to claim a "W".
Waiting for your change of format after the coming Husker victory.

Baylor -- KMR hangs around for the entire game, her team challenged to play with heart, Baylor shows they belong in the upper echeleon.
Colorado - I think Colorado's too hard a place to play, especially for Gillom's bunch.
Iowa State - No way anyone sneaks up on them again in Ames, not this year.
Nebraska - hmmmm, Kansas must be looking at their schedule and wondering if February 27th will ever get here.
Oklahoma State - ever once in a great while, the Cowgirls just absolutely plays ruthlessly and they knock off some unsuspecting team.......
Oklahoma - hmmmmmm, after that butt-whooping up in Aames, EVERY SOONER players shows up to play.....heart, fire, passion.
The crimson and cream have something to prove to the Big XII and they prove it bigtime.

The whole post is great Chipper. This section will give us a little extra fun. For anyone who doesn't know, as Chipper does, Nicole Ohlde is from Clay Center and Kendra Wecker is from an hours drive away in Marysville. They were rivals in the NCKL league in high school. When those two teams played there was no easy win on either floor but both teams did real well against everyone else. Strangely enough I like Wecker a lot better now. Its great to see them play together on the same team.
two cents

Baylor at Missouri---Both teams want an NCAA bid. Both teams played a fairly weak non-conference schedule. Every conference win is precious. Baylor badly needs this game...Missouri tough at home...I'll be rooting for the Bears to win......but Missouri over Baylor.
Colorado in the Rockies should prevail over A&M.
Texas Tech at Iowa State---Chantelle Anderson's tutoring of Greenwalt will have to suffice, because headmistress Welle is awaiting the freshman's enrollment. Take the lessons to heart Cisti and keep learning. Tech was learning to play against the zone... then got hit by a string of man to man defenses...can they remember?...perimeter players must come out firing...Tech over Iowa State.
Kansas will beat somebody...somewhere...somehow......but I am certain to be surprised when it happens...Nebraska over Kansas.
Kansas State at Oklahoma State---These kids are mighty sassy...don't they understand they're in the Big 12?...no respect for their elders, shame on them! Thought OSU would play tougher at home against UT...didn't show much. KSU proven themselves conference roadworthy twice already...the brats get even more spoiled...Kansas State over Oklahoma State.
Texas at Oklahoma---Longhorns much more consistent than in previous years...plenty of young talent...enthusiasm and determination in abundance...may match up particularly well with OU...but this is in Norman and Sooners hopping mad...Oklahoma over Texas.
