Disturbing News (Colorado Hoopsters)

You may have noticed the latest article posted titled "Sex charges shadow girls' coach." It, along with several others, deal with Colorado Hoopsters’ coach Rick Lopez and needless to say charges of sexual misconduct. Additionally, there are several other linked articles that deal with other aspects of the Lopez and the Hoopsters.

This guy sounds pretty nasty. I had heard a lot about him around Colorado high school basketball...this is much of what I have heard though much more specific, direct and damning. It's really amazing how many kids in the Big 12 played for him, but also a lot that didn't. Some of the parents say that there's no other option for girls from Colorado in club ball to get college offers, but I don't think that's true.

Metoyer (CU), Stratton (BU), Unrau (MU) and others weren't Hoopsters, and I am sure there are others I can't think of. Anyways, the article is very disturbing and I hope that this opens the eyes of the parents. However based on what most parents said in the article, I doubt it will and the kool aid cycle will continue.

Kate dawg is there a High School website that covers girls bball in Colorado?

Kate Dawg, you are correct. This has been going on for awhile. Rumors have been very specific and often named the players. This is sad, not just for Colorado, but for all of us. This hurts those who do have good intentions.

I believe Carl does a great job with the Mile-Hi Magic basketball program. Do you know anyother AAU programs that are doing well in Colorado? I think it is important to get out that this is not the norm in AAU basketball in Colorado or anywhere else.
