What can I say. It was fun. It was LOUD and it was packed. The word was that maybe up to a thousand fans were turned away. I am sorry for that. We were there about 50 minutes early and they were already turning fans without tickets away. Bummer for that. It was Kendra Wecker day and her home town turned out in force in addition to the normal surge in interest in KSU women's basketball.
The game was another game that did not follow what you would expect from prior performance. The high scorer for NU was Katie Robinette with 16. Keasha Cannon had 10. I am too pumped up to give you much more except to say that NU learned the hard way not to leave Ice Water Vein Koehn open. She killed um with 6-9 from three point range. Did anyone see Paul Sanderford's quote regarding this game? Here it is:
"If this team is the 14th-best team in the country, then I’m excited because we’re not far behind. We’re getting better, and I’m proud of our basketball team."
RIGHT BEHIND THEM? If Nebraska breaks into the top 15 this season, I'll eat his shorts. Robinette isn't all that and a bag of chips like she thinks she is, either.

Hey KSURon...do you think KSU will pull a sellout against TTU? It would be a great thing to see on TV that night.

I picked up some more tickets for the tech game today and as of 4pm about sixty seven hundred tickets had already been sold for the tech game. We are helping to promote Nicloe Ohlde day for that game and WE (in Clay Center, KS, Nicole's home town) went through eleven hundred tickets between friday night and nine fifteen this morning. I picked up another thousand and about 500 of those are already spoken for. (and yes these are paid tickets not free) The Purple Palace may or may not be sold out, but it sure will not be empty. I am told that with out the internal phone number you could not even get in to the ticket office on the phone today. There were lines to both of the windows that were open and lots of people were buying tickets for the rest of the year, the Kansas game on the 23rd, ISU the Feb. 2nd and so forth, as well as the tech game and of course, also some for mens games. Having been to quite a few games in Bramlage with less than 2,000 other "close friends" it was awsome to me just to see the crowd.

How exciting to see this kind of support explode this season at KSU and the local support there for the local players. It's a compliment to the KSU program and also to women's basketball. Having watched basketball for a season at Mississippi with Van Chancelor and our TAMU Coach Gillom as assist and still only draw maybe 700 fans, it still gives me goosebumps when 14,000 fans are screaming their heads off for women's basketball.
Keep it up KSU...course we'd like you to have an off night against Tech, but otherwise I for one will be cheering you on every night, just like I did for Baylor last year.
